I did a little research, but I would like to go a little more deep with my situation.
I understand that when you see credits and it states, Produced by Dr. Dre, it dosent necessarly mean Dre made the entire beat, or the beat at all, it means he was the one who put it together, orchistraighted the details such as the recording facility, final calls, etc.
Is this correct, or some what correct. He is the deal. The name of my label is PK21 Productions and I am PMJ Owner/Producer. I work along with another local label and we share artists and are working together to make albums but do solo releases under our prespecitve labels too. Lets say I recorded an artist(Teddy Bower) on a beat that was not made by me, it was made by (Jonny B Good) of Gettin Down Records!, the other label I work with. The beat is already broken down, I record the track at my crib with my gear. The other producer(Bob B) who I directly works with me udner my label mixes most of the songs that are recorded at my crib, we also make a lot of producer type decissioins together! We include the artist in the mixing sessions and recording sessions and pretty much give him creative control on how he wants the track to go! But we all participate. The track will be featured on an album that is being produced by PK21 Productions and Gettin Down Records.
This shit is hard to explain, my bad, but here is what I come up with as far as credits!
Now, this is just for the song, not the album.
"I'm A Dope Emcee"
Performed and written by(T. Bower) Produced by PMJ and Bob B. for PK21 Productions and Gettin Down Records. Beat produced by Jonny Be Good. Recorded at PK21 Productions. Mixed by Bob B.
LOL, see where I am getting at. Realistcially, for this album we are working on, I will be doing most of the beats and my other producer will do a grip, the guy from the other Label will submit a few beats and we'll have a few more from other producers! All but a few tracks will be recorded and mixed by my guy and I at my crib. I dont want to short my self credit for things, but I dont want to lack giving proper credits! Any help would be appreciated. Thanx. PM
