Creating Samples

Hey, I'm kind of new to the whole hip hop production scene. I've been fooling around with Fruitlyoops and I've been making some ok beats. But after awhile I found that the samples they provided are not enough to make good quality beats. So I was wondering how I go about creating my own samples. And I'm not talking about sampling from other artists or songs. I just wanna make my own sounds that don't sound all synthy and computerized. Also, if you know of any good fruityloops tutorials, please let me know

doctah making your own samples is straight but there are other alternatives to getting better sounds . the ones inside fruity aren't all that so download some soundfonts, and vst's. search for samples in these forums and on the internet

Are there any VSTs or soundfonts that you would recommend? I've seen a lot of Techno ones but I'm not trying to get that sound.

Get Edirol Orchestra Nice Strings and Orchestra Sounding Stuff Maybe Sample Tank 2xl oR Hyper Sonic Those are 2 pretty descent SoftSynths and try www.hammersound.net for some soundfonts

Camp O, from the question I suspect doctah is looking for free struff. Try K-v-R for vst's. Flstudio also has a vst called Sytrus which is very flexable but very costly if you want to own it. It comes as a demo, but since your into sampling, and cutting your own samples, you should have no problem finding or programing good sounds from this thing. FLstudio will allow you to render wave files from this plugin without buying it. It's a good resource if your into that kind of thing.

yea and soundfonts, look for this joint called 4GMGSMT or Music Theoria , they're both pretty good. i'd just add a lil reeverb and ur good to go.

Bosta, did you know that hotmail is giving away 250mg email space and 10mg email transfer. You can now send drumkits, soundfonts programs and all that through email now.
you know what's also funny, if the email won't let you send program files, you can set your window brower to show file details or something like that, and the change the programs .exe extention to .jpg and it will change and make the file appear to be a jpeg. Just let the person you send it know know what and how to change it back. That's a freebie
