mine never gets hot but depending on how old the computer is and what kind of cooling you have it can get real hot. my freind had an old amd pc, and he didn't have the right fans for it so it started smoking one day. (he built it himself)

2 useful things to know if you got one of them homebuilt or computer show computers, make sure you have a good heat sink, and also when you install the heat sink there is a soft gel or putty like material you shoul put between the top of the cpu and the fan, it helps to maximize the heat transfer to the heat sink and also make sure you have enuff circulation at the input and exhaust vents on the cpu case itself so your airflow keeps the heat levels stabilized man......the more devices and cards installed also gonna have to be factored.....

here man here you go....operating thresholds depending on the processor....

lol funnily enuff i recently just upgraded and built a new pc last thursday. upping from the 700mhz p3 ive had for a while now. my temps are in the 50s, i think thats ok, although most of my friends have their amds in the 40s. anything in the 60s i think will just reduce the life of the cpu. amd gives max operating temperatures but really for a longer life span you should be looking at 40-50, a good 20 degrees below max operating temp.

u guys should try to dust off the boards often too. it makes a big difference. especially those of you who keep the side door open. i do this at least once every two weeks
