But honestly man, sometimes rep is worth more than the money.
Hopefully he will use them to get in a position to make it on his own and fuck them off. Hes better than that.

Sometimes it isn't, that all depends on the mans situation before stepping to the plate.
I don't understand the issue with the guy working with them. Seriously, what negative impact is it going to have on his image?

Well his dad is Peter Gunz, so hes pretty well connected already.

Connected as far as what? Industry? That doesn't always put you in. See what people don't realize is your relative could have been whoever but times change, staff change newer connections don't work with many old heads.

Dre's son couldn't get a deal to save his life and his father still relevant in the industry

Ice Cubes son.. no one is looking at that dude

When I say "situation" i talking from a business perspective. Most of these artist who are unsigned (to big labels) are only living pay check to pay check. Yes they make good money but when they stop working, when they stop putting out new material it only lasts for soo long. I don't know dudes financial but I know a lot of accountants who work for a lot of these cory gunz, bun b,s these nottz etc. Pretty soon it gets to a point where you want residual.

When people ink deals, meaning the artist who already have fan bases 70% of the time (these days) they are not doing it for the music. Most people see it as " ok he can reach more fans!" Ok yea true but when you sign a deal with a big label then everyone wants to know about you... they want to make reality tv shows, video games, interviews, hey here is a movie spot.

I can tell you right now Cory is going to make more of his show than he will selling records and he knows that!.

Sorry not meaning to drop a novel me understanding business to me things make much more since vs someone who is looking at it from a producer/fan/artist view its a lot bigger than that and more profitable if you let it be or you can be millz heh

I get your point entirely. I was simply stating that he is not a nobody like the average joe wannabe rapper. But I have been a fan of hip hop for many many years, I have seen trends come and go, I know that right now, and for the last few years, young money is pretty much where its at. But I personally also associate young money with mediocrity, fuck the hype, fuck the money. Businesswise its a smart move for Cory to go with them, but he really does outshine everyone else on their roster, to the nth degree. Its like he doesnt belong, but is it really the sad truth that for a New York rapper to get anywhere in this game these days, he has to sign with young money?
Is young money now the definition of hip hop? Because personally if the only way I was going to get into the game was by association with them, them fuck damn, I dont want it. That to me aint hip hop, its the epitamy of anti hip hop in my eyes, and the eyes of many others i know. And for that reason, I feel that by association, hes doing himself a damage. But in todays "hip hop" market it probably wont do him any harm at all, it will certainly do young money the world of good, its about time they got a real spitter, as long as he sticks to decent beats and not the ten a penny all sounds the same sort of shit, with garbage lyrics that make no sense to anyone with two braincells to rub together, then he has a future. But I think he needs a crew that is more of a challenge, so that the competetive spirit can keep his skills sharp and his rhymes the same. But thats just my personal opinion.

I think Cory Gunz moving to Young Money was a great move...

Before 6foot 7foot...that dude was relatively non-existent in mainstream hip-hop....very few people knew him..

Now that he's signed to Young Money....EVERYONE gets to hear him....I think in terms of business it's a great move on his part....He could always use that to move on to future endeavors.... I've never heard Cory Gunz so much until that joint with Lil Wayne came out... You would never hear a Cory Gunz joint on the radio...not even Sirius/XM....and I have it..and hip-hop nation and Shade45 don't play Cory gunz like that.....So yeah...awesome move by C. Gunz....he can make some $$$ and get popular for his bars...hopefully this will be the trend going forward.....being a beast lyrically and still get the appeal of the masses.... Let's keep our fingers crossed, people...

He may outshine them but again that's something the fan will argue. You ask someone like us we will say cory> wayne.... ask my wife or her friends wayne>cory. It's all about giving the consumer what they want. A lot of people blame the industry its not the industry's fault its the fans. If the fans accept it they industry will milk it. Its like this in every industry. He didn't have to sign with them he wanted too. What cory makes isn't for the masses so you can't expect him to do it all on his own when the trend isn't buying up what he is offering.

Is young money now the definition of hip hop

Hardly its the many faces of pop music .. hiphop is exactly where it use to be... on the streets...not the radio.

See this is the mentality I could never understand and it's in every industry I have a friend who is a coder and he refuses to code for big companies because he can't express himself. He hates making simple applications so he elances (which is fine) but again its not consistent dude is always stressed. Atleast working for one these corp comapanies he'd be working 4 days a week making $100k a year he can do whatever he wants in his free time with his own applications. I see music the same way. People (not pickinig on you but just in general) will turn their nose up a big deal or money making op simply because its against their passion and will go put on that work uni to make $15-20/hr and struggle! I know your passion isn't *insert job title* but hey you do it to feed your family. Music is the same way (for me atleast) I open my email everday and log into my taxi account for gigs. I'm licking my chops when I see someone wants a track like BMF please request more that's an easy $800-2000 payment upfront and royalties. I don't have a grudge I like making music period all styles but I do prefer rnb and older hiphop... I make a pretty good living from it but let me tell you if YM said hey we'd like you to produce for us I'm doing it no question. People fight hard in corp America for $2.00 raise and labels are tossing the money at you who cares what they want.

You want 3 key melodies strings and arps no problem

I'm with Nnxt as well...

I'm one of those guys who would like to give the people what they want.....and in turn the people would give me what I want.... I would love to take some time out of life and just make music for a living........ Even if I did it for only one year of my life...it would be the best year of my life.......Everyone has different aspirations when it comes to music....... Like I've always said...to change the game.....you gotta do it from the inside...

Thats cool, but when you have taken my standpoint for so long, it would be a big sellout for me to then go against what I have beleived from hip hop for so long.
I would then see myself as the biggest cunt in history to go against everything I have said and stood for, Im getting a bit old now and stuck in my ways, to go back on my own words now just isnt an option for me. What anyone else does or believes in isnt up to me to say, I have no problem with what anyone wants to do, its their life let them live it, Im no judge of whats right and wrong for other people, but I am the judge for myself. If you think you can change the game from inside, then all the best of luck to you, I really hope you do, cos damn the game needs changing, and if anyone can do it its you. But honestly I dont think its us that can change the game, its the fans. As long as they buy into the pop style of hip hop then its not going to change, the whole definition of hip hop has changed beyond recognition, and I dont think what I know to be hip hop will ever really be back. There will be the odd track here or there that keeps me inspired, but generally the hip hop by the definition I was taught, is dead and has been for quite a while. If the fans aint buying it then its dead. thats why I can only make the music I love, because there arent many people doing it, because theres no money in it, and we all know money is what makes the world turn.
Im destined to be a broke muthafucker for the rest of my life, what I bought into and spent years trying to get good at just doesnt exist anymore, I missed my time.
All I can do is pursue other options like music for commercials, or games etc.
I cannot personally make music that I dont like, it just goes against my whole idea of what making music is really about, for me thats expression of self, and that candy arsed 3 chord with some 808's just isnt me. I like headnodder music, always have done, thats me. Good luck to everyone here in their pursuit of success in this fucked up business, all I can do is just express my opinion, which really doesnt count for fuck all, Im a small fish in a big pond, but while I can still express my opinion freely, I will do so, and try not to offend too many people, but I admit I have and can be a cock from time to time, all I can do for that is apologise, its just my opinion.
Now go make some bangers!!!! Yeah baby!!!
