Go to www.copyright.gov and look for a link for copyrighting sound recordings. You have to mail it to the library of congress and i believe the fee is 25$ if it hasnt changed....but there should also be link with directions on it too.

And heres a tip:

Instead of copyrighting only 1 track, you can record everything on cassette (maybe the first couple of loops of each track unless your tracks completely change halfway) and name your works something like "jonny punchline tracks Volume 1" , that way all your songs will be in volume 1 and you will save your resources.

Now ive heard about mailing yourself your works and not opening the envelop but after talking to certain people that work in this field, I've found that this method will not hold up in court.

Hope this helps. If anybody notice something i missed, please correct me....BBP

Perfect.. I have done this many times over. And it works. Poor mans Copyrights are a waste of time. (mailing joints to yourself). Also what I did was open an account at the lib. of congress. I make beats so fast sometimes that It would cost me mad doe to keep copyrighting them. So if your like me, open your own account. It's pretty cheap, and your stuff will get processed faster. Just an idea..

naw man...put as many tracks as you can on a cassette tape or CD...name the entire media and copyright it under that name...If that makes sense.

blood bruthaz is right. It's not $30 a track but $30 to copyright whatever is on the cd. If you have one beat on the cd then that beat just cost you $30 to copyright. If you put 45 second snippits of say 30 beats on one cd, it'd cost you $30 as well.

Get as much on there as you can.
