Computer Tower Cleaning

Consider this a memo,

My computer CPU fan was making a minor noise for a while. I paid no attention to this since it seemed like a mild neucence.

Well tonight when I got home I turned on my comp to here the weakest sounding effort of the fan trying to spin. I immediately turned the tower off, disconnected the power connection and busted the tower open. What I found gathered up on my CPU fan was enough dust and lint to make a bum sweater. I cleaned that puppy up and now my tower is so silent I cant tell if its on or not.

So, to my point of this thread. Please clean your fans and dust your tower every few months to avoid any possibility of overheating or damage. I was very lucky nothing happend to my computer.

I double that. If you have a shop vac, it is the best thing to clean. But make sure the PC is off.

that is very true i couldn't record any sounds using soundforge cos my computer kept on restarting on me i had a look at the fan and there was my problem a shitload of dust covering it lol but do take care of your computer.

I have a Kirby and the duster attachment is da shit for cleaning PCs, laptops and all electronics.

Get a can of spray and spray it once a week and u wont ever have a mess either ...... no need for those big dust bunnys .......

thanks for the advice. nowadays you dont really think about lookin after your computer as a physical machine. you worry about your hard drive, viruses, spyware, adware etc etc that you forget about the machine itself
will b checkin these links, coz i know my pc fan is loud (but it kinda always has been, vista on 512mb doesnt really work)
