sometimes in my breat there is a clicking noise. my samples are taken from vynil but this is not vynil crackle tyope clicks cos it hapensa at random times...mos often when there is a kick drum on top of a bass note.

is this cos it is peaking or something. all my levels are pretty low

also while im at it. if i record into wavlab on the pc from my mpc 2kxl and then raise the gain of the whole song in wavlab, will this give undersired effects since its digitally instead of with volume from the output? or do i only have to worry about not putting it up over the threshhold. also, whats the loudest threshold that is safe and has not distrotion etc?

thanks

Hey,

1. Look at the kick drum in the spectral view, you may be able to 'see' the click and be able to zoom in close enough to select and eq it out.

It could be for a buttload of reasons, most probably something to do with the soundcard acting weird. I forget which card you're using; if it's a Live or Audigy, remember that it has a fixed sample rate of 48khz and you will need to record your audio at 48khz before resampling it back down to 44.1khz with software (if you decide that you want your final audio at 44.1khz).

Take care,

to add to Vitaminman....if you notice the attack...the beginning of the kick, go ahead and magnify the wave and trim it as clos as possible to the beginning of the wave also if you have any extra beyond the end of the sample cut it off where the sample ends, also you can apply a fade out to the very end to make sure the wave is not ending on a cycle above 0.

The drum is too loud go to the internal mixer and turn it down....More than likely you sampled it too loud

yo mess i dont think u should raise the gain of the whole project...i read somwhere that you should never go over 0db's and if its not loud enough then you should use coompression and not raise the actually db level. If your levels are mad low i think it would be best to use a compressor and limiter on your final mix.... some of my beats have real low levels but when i throw my mastering chain on there they get a whole lot louder...
