fl is a great program but it seems like it was for more of a beginning stage and reason is more advanced.......
I don't think you understand the full potential of fruity loops.
you can do what ever you want with fruity loops and I can't say that for reason ( being a closed system.)

FL and reason and you all SUCK big nuts!!! :p

(just kidding)

you know what they say, different folks, different strokes.

I would use reason, but i am very dependant on native instruments vst plugins and other things reason doesnt support. Its a nice proggy, and a good choice of you are moving to software from hardware for example. Soundwise its certainly not the most fresh awesome thing ive ever heard, and most people i know export their reason shit to some other program to get decent sound post-production.

FL is a dope proggy too, its seriously being underrated by many here, alot of peeps saying its a beginner program. I have been making music on my pc for almost 10 years, and am now using fruity alot since half a year or so, i must be on crack using a beginner program after many years of experience.

Both reason and fruity are capable programs, you can do anything you want in either program.

To all those people saying this or that program sucks (especially complete virtual studio type proggies like reason and fl), i say your program doesnt suck, YOU DO! What i mean with this is just because you dont know how everything in some program works and some other program comes easier to you doesnt mean that the program you had difficulty with sucks, know what im sayin. And maybe your production skills werent what they are now while using that proggie you think sucks now, consider that. ive heard people make phat ass tracks with the original rebirth, those people had skills and put alot of time and effort to learn every little feature in their program there was instead of putin time and effort into whining about how much it sucks.

And to that dude above who said fl doenst have a good sequencer like cubase or logic, hmm lets see:

cubase : piano roll and various adaptions of a piano roll
logic: same as above
fruity: also piano roll, and THEN some, for years since the beginning they had tr step trigger sequencer (the first thing that you see when you open fruity), this is something logic didnt even have until very recently in version 7.

just my 2 cents on that

Peace

Well put man. i just think fl and reason are on the same level, just directed at a diferent crowd. its just an evolution on the old argument of is hardware better then software. when I started produncing on software, everyone else said i sucked and that hardware is the onoly way. for me its a question of results

See to me its really ALL about the interfacing....Reason in my opinion, is simply put - the way i expect a music sequencing/studio prgm to be - Fruity on the other hand feels "tacky" and even not thought out as well "ergonomically". But once again...thats on me. - Thats really why i still support Reason over Fruity - NOT because of the results one can achieve using EITHER one of these prgms.

Yeah, Reason is a tight ass program! ReDrum is the shyt!:D One thing I like about FL is the MIDI Input feature! I don't think any other program has this, and it's a real handy feature...It doesn't start recording until you press a key on your MIDI controller...That's one of the best things in FL. Reason is just more efficient and I think has more possibilities...

ergo ergo....nomicaly

dudes, we have shortkeys for that... FL uses F5 to F10 to move around the proggie, Logic makes you set your own, cubase uses the function keys and Reason doesn't need any. I can switch to anything I want quicker than reason because I dont need to scroll up and down 100 times an hour because the rack wont fit entirely on one screen and they hadn't thought about the possibility of placing racks next to each other. What else ? most proggies use double click a lot, all but reason. I double click in logic and it opens the belonging properties, cubase same, FL, same, Reason....scroll scroll scroll

But I agree, Redrum is a fine piece of software, but that can not be the only reason for it to use reason. There are alternatives, like FL which has far more extensive enveloping and it does sound wack if you're used to presets but to way to get stuff sounding correct is the same trip you take in any other program ( but then at least you have more alternatives opposed to the few in reason ). Or Linplug RMIV, EXS24, etc etc and etcetera.
