it wil not burn the .aiff file; i have tried many times already. anyone else have this problem? it came installed on my pc so i dont have any manuals, and the help isnt helping- it doesnt explain anything about this problem.

Is it a legal version? Some Nero versions are made for certain brands of burners and won't work with other burners.

Hey,

Truth, when you get a drive, it always comes with an OEM version of a burner, usually by Nero or Roxio, which should work with the drive. When you bought his machine it should have come with a burner preinstalled on your machine. Sony and HP used to bundle their own proprietary softwares, TDK (the drive I have) comes with Nero.

My point is, you shouldn't have to buy any new software.

Take care,

Nick

ok, i got new software, ala "burn4free". the error message i get on my windows media player says that either the current codec is not supported or i need to lower my internet security settings. i cannot access the net with this pc, and i lowered it anyways, but it still will not play. the media player will play the wavs that i imported from cd and mixed down to a wav file in cubase sx. these work and i can burn these, but i just cant burn wav files made in cubase. any thoughts on the current situation?

God, if your listenin, HELP!!!!!!!! (half baked, in case anyone didnt catch it..lol) vitaminman, freak, anyone?

Hey,

The only time I ever have problems with wav files is if they aren't proper 44.1khz, stereo 16 bit Windows PCM Wav or AIFF files, and I sometimes have to verify this by doing a right-click>properties on them...often I see that they 'magically' turned into 24 or 32 bit files.

It shouldn't matter where the waves came from, be it Cubase or any other software...unless there is a bug in Cubase which is preventing it from writing out the correct information in the file's header.

A way around this is to try to burn the files as a data cd instead of an audio cd, because there aren't the same type of rules that you have to follow. The only drawback to this is that you won't be able to play the cd on a consumer cd player, but at least you'll be able to tell if your burner/software is working.

If you're using XP, it comes with its very own burning software inside Windows Media Player which, in spite of its limitations, had come through like a champ. My guess would be that if the burning from WMP doesn't work, no other software will work either.

Getting a codec without being on the internet? You could write to Microsoft and ask them to send it to you on a floppy or cd, but I'll bet they won't do it. You shouldn't need any special codecs to burn, though, normally codecs are used to open and save out files of different formats, like 24-bit or MP3.

Take care,

Nick

the only time you need a new codec is if its something out of the ordinary like mp4 alot of stuff isnt up to date or some mpeg files.so if its asking for a codec check the file like nick said.Especially if youre running xp.
Peace
