Hey I got my 2500 a couple of months ago and still havent used it to its full capacity yet( by any means).
I was wondering so far all those who have it do you have any tips, tricks, or just a general review of the 2500?
(Incidently I found this site researching mpc2500 reviews)...

yo i just got the 2500 like last month , i'm still learning it but a tip i would give is to program your beats at double resolution to give it a less mechanical feel, and also play with note shifting. if you got any other specific questions i'll se if i can help

Yeah see its a shame but I havent even got that far...
I would have to open the manual to understand that , you just said:"juegLvbiuregeuh"
to me.
But I feel you on the resolution thing.
Funny I bought my machine after discovering this site and hearing all the hype on the 2500.
I thought there might be more post purchase reviews,
That means I'll have to put the triton down for a while:)
Cool post/tip.
Anyone else?

I have found (this may be a seperate thread) that I have purchased WAY too many sounds for my 2500.
I went to gothanoddin.com and soundcrafting.com and got like $800 worth of kits on compact flash.
Then I went and bought a 1gig flash to save my songs and stuff.
I now have 1 saved project and half of another one.
I have not stopped foolin with my triton yet because I know the feel of it.
The problem that I have is as I go through the MP kits I get lost, I mean there are literally hundreds of sounds and as I find somthing I like I start to lose the original idea in my dome piece.
I end up leaving the 2500 just on for days, unable to complete the project or start somthing new.
I think in my haste to be prepared for the future I may have overkilled.
Anyone have a "too many sounds" problem?
Any tips for staying focused?
What do the filters on this thing do?
Say I have a bass spread all over bank A multipitching right how do I get it to cut off when I play the pads so its not overlapping?
Anyone want to comment on the Q faders on the side?
I know this stuff is in the manual but others may be curious.

to make the sounds more manageable u just have to group them in a way that is convenient for you

I have separate folders for kicks,snares,hi-hats,percussion,stabs......etc
you can do it on the computer by using the usb connection or u could just do it on the mpc whichever is better for ya

the filters aren't the most powerful on the market but they get the job done, the effects and eq's are straight too

It has low pass, band pass, and high pass u can double up and make the filters more powerful by changing the type: category to link or whichever 2nd filter u wanna use

to filter out basslines use the low pass choose a low freq. between 5 and 20 and u can add resonance as needed

band pass plays only the freq. u have selected just play around with it and you'll get the hang of it same with the high pass just do what sounds good

to cut overlapping sounds assign them to the same mute group...mode + pad7/program

u just gotta go head first and hands on to learn the machine, use the manual as a reference

Its the machine I wish I bought! :( lol. The greatest strength the mpc has over many other platforms is the ability to sequence horribly fast and give it a live feel. Plus time shift and the mute screen are the freakin shit.

to cut overlapping sounds assign them to the same mute group...mode + pad7/program

Or if you know you want the entire program to cut each pad off, then just set the whole thing to MONOphonic and then you dont even have to bother with mute groups.

Another cool feature I stumbled on that I dont recall being in the manual:
When in program mode highlight a sound assigned to a pad , then hit the window button, it goes to a screen that allows you to now adjust the attack and decay and things of that paticular sample, dont know if its pad specific or global as I was just having fun at the time manipulating samples.
But its something I found.
