Buying a Keyboard

hey I wanted to know if it would be worth my money to buy a keyboard and what all can I do with it...Talking to my boy and reading the post it seems like the best ones out are the ASR 10...Triton....and possibly a Casio Model I am not sure which model though....

And from what I heard Primo uses a Casio....Swiss uses a Triton...and Alchemist uses an ASR10...

So before I go out like a fool and buy one which one is the best....and by buyng a specific keyboard as the one mentioned above does it mean my sounds are going to sound like that producer who also uses it???

And also is it worth the money and what all can I actually do with a keyboard??? will it enhance the sounds I sample???

I mean I am not buying it to learn how to play it I just want to get it if I can get some dope ass sounds or create some good melodies with it then loop it up???

Currently I use Fruity Loops and Cool Edit for my beats now with that would I be able to interface the two or will there be a clash between hardware and software???

someone please help me out here...

Whatever you do stay away from the asr-10 it can't help you as far as sounds go because it doesn't come with any

Yo i think you should look into the Triton Le 61 or 76 keyboard. They are very very similar to the older studio version but they dont have a touch screen you have to use the buttons on the keyboard to navigate but other than that its great. Built in sequencer you can get it with a sampler and the sounds are incredible. number 1 pick if you ask me

I was once a triton hater because swizz beatz made it sound like it had no sounds in it but after going to music stores and playing around with them I've grown to like them....I have a triton rack now

exactly right

all the keyboards you mentioned are dope from what I've heard so you can't really go wrong with either of them. You should try them out in a shop and go with whichever one you like most.
Shit I plan on getting them all eventually and you'll probably get more keyboards in the future to.

Ay yo Goin4Broke can you tell me a little bit bout the xp60 playa?

the thing i like about the xp is the fact is that its a older board but they always come with new updated cards it has a sequecer on it,nice rich sounds and a whold bunch of other shit too much to list. its a damn good board a roland rep was telling me its one of the bset boards the company has ever mad and you can get one on ebay because everyone is trying to get shit that they heard about instead of keeping what they have and adding on. just hit me up ill try to help.

When looking into keyboards, don't try to go for the most expensive because those aren't always the best for producing qualities. If you have a tight software that can incorporate a keyboard, you really don't need a all out keyboard because the software will automatically give tight ass sounds for it. goodluck though joe

it really depends... how much $$ you got to spend? if you are using software as a sequencer, i recomend sound modules. a proteus 2500 will set you up big time.... you can add a B-3 card, a nice piano card..... they have really good orchestral expansions..... among the best i have heard. plus its cheaper than these other keyboards. for what it cost to by the triton le (my friend got one a while ago.. my xp 80 blows it out the water, sound wise. its got an easier interface tho..) you can get a proteus 2500 full of expansion cards, and the processor rivals any keyboard out there... im selling my xp 80 to get one. thats what i recomend.

you do need a midi keyboard to control it, however. just so you know. by all accounts the yamaha motif is an amazing peice of equipment.....

i just got the motif rack... and i must say that it is quite a cut above the rest, soundwise. the mixing features and effects are excellent.. there are 4 insert effects, which is great.... the triton has five. the pianos are beautiful and the organs are the best stock i have heard.... i would suggest this, personally!!! your best bet is to go look at everything at the nearest guitar center. (or whatever you have) and just play with it....

Lets see the answer to your question about if you get (insert keyboard) will you sound like (insert producer) the answer is no. Everyone develops a sound that they like which is why you can listen to certains beats and right away know who did it. Your sound comes from what extras you use sample selection, drum patterns, filters, compression ect.

As far as those keyboards are concerned they all are dope in different ways. The Asr has good sounding filters though I don't like the built in sequencer much. The triton is a all around board great to have around.

For the price of a triton you can get Logic or Cubase a software sampler and controller keyboard then you won't ever have to worry about how much sample time you have left or any of that other crap that comes with dedicated hardware.

If you do decide on a keyboard make sure it has a output expander my cousin had the ASR before we got the expander it was a pain in the a$$ to get the levels on the different sounds right.

asr 10's are hot for sampling, but you'll need to find better stock sounds, triton would be hot but expensive, i d go for the asr and load up on sounds

if you also want a sampler buy an asr 10-keyboard!
if you also want a nice synth buy a roland juno 106!

theyre both nice to handle.
