i always sound like a damn fool when i embark on a new way of doing things, and this will be no different.

i began sampling again and i am clueless on how to find out the bpm of a song on cubase. any suggestions? the time stretch and pitch shift works but i dont know the correct values. any pointers here?

Aslong as you know the amount of beats in your sample its dead easy in cubase.

- Import the sample into your project
- Double click the sample so you go into the sample/wave edit mode
- Press ctrl+a to highlight the whole sample
- Click project>beat calculator
- Type in the amount of beats, then there you go!

I did this in SX2

ok... ithanks... i still feel like a moron- what is meant by "number of beats"?

i only learn what i need when i need to learn it, so this is still a lil new to me.

Number of beats - you know like a 1 bar of music has 4 beats (i'm not trying to insult your intelligence as i'm sure you know this).

You can count them really easily if your sample has already got some drums in it. What sort of sample is it that you are wanting to get the bpm?

Holmzini - that's cool. I used to track my isht into acid before i figured out how to do it in cubase lol
