Boom Bap or Trap

I’m gonna reply off the top of my head then go back and see how everyone else feels about it.

To me, boom bap is like the tree trunk of hip hop. It’s a much more significant part of the lineage and influenced practically all variations of hip hop and sample-based music that have followed.

Trap is like a branch of hip hop. It might b a terminal branch at that... although I’m sure something will eventually grow out of it. I find trap interesting because without the rapping, u could make the argument that it has as much in common with electronic dance music as hip hop in its current form (granted, this is a generalization). This observation refers to the production style... not the rap style. I almost feel like trap rapping and trap style production have become different entities at this point.

It’s been fun to watch it evolve though... back to the early emergence of that dirty south style.
