I would like to hear some opinions on Jay Z's new album. Personally, I think it's just Aight. Hov is still captivating but the awe factor is not as strong on this one, I thought some of the production left a little to be desired also. Just want to see if u guys felt it or not....

Damn shame...dude should've been all over that album.....Those beats are Hov all day...

Just goes to show how the industry works....If the dude submitting them was named Just Blaze, they would've been taken....Guaranteed.

Some outtakes.

I guess this cat is a 23 year old producer that got a chance to submit tracks to Jay but none of them were picked. Very interesting. It's cool to compare and contrast what made the album to this guy's submissions. Free download right on his front page.

check out track 9. thats a hov single. im thinkin he heard a couple of the wrong tracks and trashed the cd.

It's not always name recognition for the reason that tracks don't make albums. It's all on the producer these days to clear all sounds and samples. U have to be able to tell the big boys where certain shit came from and prove it or they are not willing to take the chance on your music. Dude may be a dope beat maker but terrible in a studio environment. He may not know how to properly track his shit out....who knows. Many other variables come into play besides the producer having a big name!

No doubt about that shit and that's a very valid point.
However, politics play a broader part in this shit. Look at the math. This is his big comeback album, you can't take a chance if you are Hov relying on an unknown producer to be on his album, hot or not. the name recognition of producers who are first call counts to the pre-buzz of the album. That could have been a reason too.
