hey i`ve been using nuendo for a few years now, and its a great sequencing software. pro tools was built mainly for mac computers and are more reliable when used on mac, whereas nuendo was built just for pc with just about the same user interface as pro tools. i compared the functionality of pro tools with that of nuendo and found that nuendo has everything pro tools have. people jump on pro tools because the big katz made it industry standard. so katz like us feel as though in order to compete with them in the smallest way means you have to get pro tools.
but just as vitaminman said, it`s not the software that gives you (GREAT) sound, its the converters and all your processing units. but keep this in mind too, when the big boyz finish editing, mixing & mastering, they send everything over to 2inch tape to acheive the warmth in the song that was lost in the digital domain. now as far as cubase sx, steinberg felt it was time to change the gui in cubase and add more functionality to it as well. so what they did was made it look like nuendo and feel like nuendo, but its far from being "just like nuendo"
just like pro tools made digi oo1 or protools le. look and feel the same, but not quite the same. i used cubase 5.01 and the midi sequencer in it "SUCKED" to date never had a problem with nuendo. midi, or audio. just think if steinberg made cubase that close to being nuendo, don`t you think they`d have to make nuendo better over all? nuendo 2.0 may be buggy, but what software don`t have bugs in them when they are first released. thats why the constantly make updates for the software. but over all "TO EACH HIS OWN" and (BIG UPS) to what ever software you use to do your thing. which ever you use for your creativity you are still a producer, so make it hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
