Ok Formant...I gotta admit, that NEVER crossed my mind and the bad thing about that is - my surround sound system for my tv has a similar set up where you place a mic in your favorite listening spot and it automatically makes adjustments to give you the best sound at your sweet spot...lol. Duh me! Really good info - thanks!

@dp - yeah I've seen the ARC before, I don't remember the price of it but I think it was too expensive for my taste. I'll do the research again on it.

I've seen ARC being used @ the studio......if you're really serious...$299 is a steal for it..

And it works really well. The room was already treated well...that just made it awesome.....had those Adam a7x's working sexy....

Yeah Sucio, I checked it later and thats not too bad if it works well...I would prefer the hardware first so if I can't find the DEC 2496 I will consider ARC for sure.

^^^ like said, it doesnt replace fact that acoustic treatment is good. If you cant buy one than you can probably rent one with the ecm8000 behringer mic from somehwere, use it for measurements and apply those on a good eq. Reason being for this is that its still a behringer ad/da, if you do decide to get this handy tool, there are some mods that replace the ad/da with proper converters for a reasonable price.

Im having a hard time finding a price on it (even on the internet)...there's supposed to be a used one at one of our local music stores here, I'm gonna check it out this weekend.

My room isn't horrible now but I'd like to improve it a little and this just may be the ticket to get exactly what I'm looking for. In general, I know my mixes aren't the best but I don't think they are all that bad either (or judging from what people tell me and from what I hear myself even on different medias), I think I will put a couple of small panels up, especially behind the monitor that I have in the corner, other than that, the room is just ok.

As for volume, I try to mix around 85db which is loud to me but I have people that live under me that say they can't hear anything until I open the door to my deck so thats a good thing. Low volume, flat response and a good freq. range are my key objectives. Thanks again for the great tips, if you can think of anything else that will help, let me know.

When u some what know what you're doing after years of experience (in your home studio) you don't need all the bells in whistles. Dac, most of your mix's sound pretty damn good to me. I don't think that's been a complaint on any thing you've posted.

Mixing someone else's music you may need a better environment but when you know what u do and how you want your music to sound it's not hard to get what you want out of what you have. A good tool to get those bass freq in the right lane and a spectrum analyzer is all I basically need to keep my music in check. Depends on what level you're mixing I guess.

The only remark i have on dac's track (that i heard) was the harsh tops. Fellt it was pushing it to much which could be due to your speaker's lack of brilliance.

Also, note that your ears become lazy when mixing on high volume, low volume enforces you to really listen (like a dj beatmatching on the tt's) which gives you a better focus on the mix. This is also a good criteria when looking for new speakers since a lot of nearfields only give a somewhat nominal display when cranked up which, again, makes them fatigueing. Good speakers display everything straight even at low volume.

@LDB - agreed...but this is whats happening now...I'm basically guessing where to set some of my bass freqs. because Im referencing off of a "false" mix during playback. I want to eliminate that aspect without doing major sound re-enforcing. I don't mind spending a little money on it but nothing outrageous. I have some good analyzers that help a lot but every now and then some unwanted ish still gets by...sometimes I catch it, sometimes I don't (sound fatigue).

Dac, to translate the graphs... its fucked up hehe
You really want to see a flat line there.

and it also explains the excessive high in your mix.

Ummm, fellas these are from a random song that I loaded just to catch the graphs moving...lol, this is not an analysis of my room or monitors...lol...you guys are thinking too hard now, I think the song was something from the group "Total".

@Formant - you keep saying "excessive highs", but Im not sure what you're talking about? Here's my latest work DACS SOUNDCLOUD. Also, I like highs so Im naturally going to favor them but to call them excessiveeeeee, nahhhh I disagree.

You must have missed this thread https://www.illmuzik.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28458

I promise that lil baby will get your bass freqz where they need to be. From there all you have to worry about is the level.

Major headache getting this installed!!!!! It goes thru the installation process like everything is good but then it doesn't show up as standalone or vst anywhere. When I click the icon some type of note pad opens. I see it in my vst folder but it does not show up when I open my DAW as a plugin.

Update

Ok....after reinstalling this like 10 times it finally shows so I can take the rooms measurements. I take about 22 measurements and it saves the file. Nowwwww....I can't use the measurements because for one...ARC won't show up in Ableton live as a plugin. Obviously there's this on going feud with Ableton and IK Multimedia plugins. Damn near everything they make either doesn't show up as a plugin or crashes Ableton.

No problem right! I have Soundforge and WaveLab 6 I can bring it up in one of those....WRONG! It won't show up in Soundforge either and it freezes WaveLab at the Authorization screen....

I'm pulling out my hair over here. And it's not from my head...hell I'm bald so it's being pulled from other places. lmao

Again, I see the dll file for ARC on my hard drive in my vst folder but the plugin is MIA when I open Ableton and Soundforge and it freezes Wavelab 6. Been searching the net and reading where it crashes or freezes several DAWS. Should have done my homework on this before I purchased it. I'll try it a couple more times then it's getting boxed up and returned! Seems to be a BUST so far!

have you updated it to the newest version?

In order to do that I'm assuming u have be able to authorize it first. I can't even authorize it in any of the DAWS I have on my computer. I've checked to see if IK has online updated downloads and can't find any for it. I've read that there are updates....just can't find them and if I have to authorize it first doesn't look like that's going to happen.
