The next competition will be from June 29-30th! See the information below.

Signups

The signups will be on June 29th at 12pm ET/EST, and end around 8pm ET, or until we have enough contestants (whichever comes first - depending on the theme).
Voting will be for one day, on June 30th, where the results will be posted the same day.

Check out the Beat This! ranks: https://www.illmuzik.com/beat-battles/?cat=bthis

*Note: check out this site to find out the correct time difference for your timezone:

The Signup page is here (it will open up on the signup day)

Theme: None
Time Limit: 2 minutes
*Vocal Track Allowed?: NO
**Vocal Snippets Allowed?: NO

===========
* VOCAL TRACK ALLOWED? This means you can have a full vocal track with your beat (acapella, for example).
** VOCAL SNIPPETS ALLOWED? This means you can have vocal snippets in your beat (very short vocal parts, for example). This is where you can also have an intro with talking (like from a movie).
===========

Voting

If you are competing, you will be able to vote but not for yourself. DO NOT TRY TO CHEAT! I will be watching for cheaters. This means you cannot sign up under different names or get your friends and family to sign up either. If you are caught cheating you could be banned.

Voting Criteria

You can use whatever sounds you want, samples, synths, just remember to read the rules for the rest of the restrictions. What the judges will be looking for is originality, creativity, mixing skills and overall dopeness!

Beats

All the beats will now be displayed in a random order and without any names. All you will see is: Beat #001, Beat #002, etc. This is so that there is no favoritism when voting.

Rules

If you're not sure about the rules, read this thread.

If you have any comments, suggestions, or questions about the competition, please post them in here.

@Fade Here's an idea for the next Beat Battle....Battle of the BEST MIX. I've heard some heat rocks that fell flat because they were poorly mixed/mastered. Could be a stem we all use or individual beats.

That's really good, it's just how will some people interpret it as the best mix? I guess it's the same scenario when judging just the beat, but for mixing, I guess it could work. Just as long as we don't end up with a huge debate about what makes a best mix. But then again, that could be a decent argument which would bring lots of tips I suppose.

No different than judging a beat. Since we're all producers (at least by moniker) I "assume" we all at least have a decent pair of monitors. Using the same stem would be the way to go for that battle. I'd be more interested in chiming in and giving tips and advice on mixing versus how to make a beat "hotter". Just my 2 cents.

I thought about this many many times. And concluded to myself that I do not want to listen to the same track 27 times initially and then however many times to tediously decided whether that 2dB difference on a snare is worth the vote.

In fact, I'd already be having that same conundrum listening to my own mix.

It'd literally be mixhellception.

Then, have you heard mfers mixes on here? Can we trust the votes?

Bruh, have you heard peoples mixes on here? There's only a handful of people on here who are decent at mixing.

I get praised on mixing, but even I don't think my mixes are as good as people say.

But because people have bad mixes does that mean they can't tell a good mix?

I think mixing is quite too advanced a thing to expect the majority here to be able to vote on --- with a beat at least mix is only 25% of criteria.
