The next competition will be from December 20-21st! See the information below.

Signups

The signups will be on December 20th at around 10am ET, and end around 8pm ET, or until we have 16 contestants (whichever comes first). Voting will be for 1 day, on December 21st, where the results will be posted the same day.

Go here to signup (click the "signup" tab - it will open up on the signup day)

Theme: CHRISTMAS
  • Your beat MUST have a Christmas vibe.
  • Sleigh bells are a plus!
You can use whatever sounds you want, samples, synths, just remember to read the rules for the rest of the restrictions. What the judges will be looking for is originality, creativity, mixing skills and overall dopeness!

Voting

From now on, the voting will be by all members! If you are competing, you will be able to vote but not for yourself. DO NOT TRY TO CHEAT! I will be watching for cheaters. This means you cannot sign up under different names or get your friends and family to sign up either. If you are caught cheating you could be banned (depending on the mood I'm in).

Beats

All the beats will now be displayed in a random order and without any names. All you will see is: Beat #001, Beat #002, etc. This is so that there is no favouritism when voting.

Sponsor

This month, the competition will be sponsored by Greg Savage & DIY Music Biz, where the winner will get 1 on 1 consultation from industry insider Greg Savage on music licensing.

Rules

If you're not sure about the rules, read this thread.

If you have any comments, suggestions, or questions about the competition, please post them in here.

I tried to follow the theme. Hope I pulled it off. I did notice that a lot of them didn't really sound very xmas like.

I think using bells and keeping somewhat of a Christmas vibe by using an instrument that’s typically used in Christmas tracks is cool.

Sampling or recreating a Christmas song that’s already existent isn’t as creative to me and wouldn’t really pick up much of an attraction from major record labels in my opinion.

All of this said, I DO NOT mean any disrespect because I think all the beats are dope and unique in their own way and having variety is what makes a competition interesting. :)

Happy Holidays!

Have you listened to Christmas songs done by artists such as Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson and Rappers that are making Christmas albums... don't they use Christmas songs that are remakes.. are they on major labels? I mean somebody produced it for them, which means a major labels paid somebody to re create those songs.. Just trying to understand what you're saying.

I agree. I heard christmas samples in almost everyones beat. Im confused. This is hip hop so as long as there is christmas samples, I dont see what the problem is. Did they expect soft non aggressive beats. THIS ISNT A JAZZ PRODUCTION LOL

You’re right... Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston did have Christmas tracks that were great, but it is 2017 and the music game has changed quite a bit. All of the “Christmas “ projects poppin off right now by rappers aren’t to tracks with jingle bells under a hip hop percussion. Not saying it’s not cool to do that though. Lol Earlier I was just stating that most beats submitted have bells which is enough in my opinion. Everything after that is up to everyone’s judgment and style.

Yeah 2017, what a good year I made over $6,000 dollars selling beats...so personally I will make anything that sells in todays market. And I also got a placement on a movie soundtrack. So do I really care what other beatmakers do.... NOT REALLY... LOL

Salute to all of you!!! I heard some DOPE SHIT. Everyone took christmas samples with their own flavor. All the beats sound different which is perfection. Fade... You should be very proud because I havent met any of my competition face to face or know t&em on a perso,al note, but I know them thru their Art (style/sound). We dont want the beats too sound like the former, but christmas with your swag added to it, IS JUST SO DELIGHTFUL!!! SALUTE ILLMUZIK!!!
