Hello,
I've been working on this archive project this summer, various recordings from 91-94, four track portastudio recordings.
On many of the recordings, the vocals are on channel one and two and the beat (meaning drums/guitar/bass/all music) is on channel three. Scratches are on channel four.
How can I take the mono comped track with all of the music, and make it more interesting in the stereo field?
Some ideas I have:
- Mid/Side decoder encoder
- Reverb / Delay (as they often turn mono into stereo, however I want to keep the track 95% dry)
- Exciter type plug in
- split into frequency range, pan certain frequencies left and right
Does anyone have any ideas or has anyone been through a similar experience that can help me liven these mono tracks up a little bit?
Thanks

Well , my immediate thought (and prolly the incorrect way lol) is if you have PT is to put it in there and convert it from mono to stereo on the track there..
so if you have a mono sig and apply a stereo reverb and just turn it to dry you now have a dry stereo signal.
Panning freq is an interesting idea!
