yesterday night i recorded a track with two befriended mcees. i went to their crib, they were recording, i wrote on a current track and after they were finished we had some conversation, a few beers, listened to some beats, picked one and just started rhyming. we picked the beat at midnight, wrote until 3 and recorded from 4-7 in the morning. it became a realy nice piece of music.
now whats notable about this, it was a flow and energy i did not experience for at least 4 or 5 years, like i had almost forgotten what made me love this shit in the beginning. once you have spend a few years in the game - maybe its just me - you become very calculating. stuff has to be like this or like that, rhymes have to be perfect, not too easy, not too complicated, all those feelings and most important no more compromises. i paid my dues and have to walk a certain way...
well after that night i feel like thats all garbage, because you end up being stubborn, possibly not even finishing certain projects due to some kind of over-correctness, while it used to be plain fun to rap and produce once.
