OK.... i got my audiophile 24/26 card today along with my midi keyboard, finally finishing my pc setup, and after i installed the card MY PC JUST WOULDNT TURN ON!! first, it did the usual setup things but when it came time for windows to come on, the screen just went black.

then i reset it and it paused at the windows loading screen, i reset it, turned it off, and removed the audio card and NOW THE DAMN THING TURNS ON, BEEPS FOREVER AND DOESNT SHOW ANYTHING ON THE SCREEN!!! :headbang:

NEEDLESS TO SAY I AM PRETTY PISSED OFF AT THE MOMENT.
any of you ever had this problem? i would really, really, REALLY appreciate some help if you can. this isnt very encouraging......

:bawling: i sold my friggin motif rack and mpc....... both of which i mised as soon as i let them go......
....so i could have a more economical solution to my needs......
...TO HAVE THE f@#$IN THING DO THIS TO ME?

just tell me there is hope and i wont have to shell out a grip of money to fix this....

Truth, sometimes when you install pc hardware yourself there's a risk of frying your shit. Did you ground yourself properly before taking your comp apart? I have a buddy who static-fried his hard drive. You should make sure the card is out, and try to start up your shit with the boot disk...go to a homies house and make one...shit man, this shit has happened to me too. Good luck :)

start up with a boot disk? how do i make one? and what will that do, exactly? i am just learning all of this computer stuff, so i dont know a whole lot..... i have the mainboard disk if thats what you mean. so there is a way to recover it, right? or do i have to go out and buy annother hard drive?

So Windows wont even operate?
If windows ever boots go to my computer and right click on tha icon to get tha list which has properties>After you go to properties then click on tha hardware tab>then you should see tha device manager - click on that now...Once your in tha device manager if you even get tha oportunity to check to see if your computer even sees your new hardware/soundcard...If there are also any conflicts this is also bad...theres a conflict when a ! inside a yellow yield shaped sign appears...if something iz not operable it will have a red x through tha hardware device....
If your card does exist in tha list but has a red X through it then try this:
click and delete tha device right from tha menu/list and then reboot....tha computer should now tell you it found new hardware and will prompt you to install tha proper drivers...

this info may help you if you can even get this far considering how severe your situation sounds.....what i have noted applys more to when your computer iz operating correctly but it just doesnt see hardware that has been installed correctly....
I just thought i would interject that little bit of info in case it comes up and you need help with it.

Hey,

Can you get into the BIOS? Normally when yoor computer starts (if it's a PC) you get the option to go into a 'setup' by hitting the F2 or F8 key...

It depends...You most likely havent fried your drive - but i suppose it is possible if you were never grounded and just static fryed your board or other goodies that are important...this is exactly why i prefer not to fuck with tha inside of my computer...but anyway, your computer should have come with a boot disk or maybe titled recovery...thats tha one you want.....

Do like Vitaminman said and go into your computer's BIOS. Once you're there (if you can get in!), report back here with what settings you see. There should be a part where it shows all the hardware on your computer. Make sure your hard drive is listed.

ok, its working again- i put the card back in and it is doing the same thing. it gets to where windows sould ask me to sign in and goes blank.... and i read the manual and it aparantly isnt compatable with windows xp? so maybe thats why? but shouldnt it have just given me a message telling me that instead of going blank?

*just checked the website and it says that one of the specifications is "UDMA EIDE or ATA 33/66 HDD", whatever that means.... what is that, exactly?

i am in bios, i can change all the settings as i wish.... so where do i go from here? the website says that windows xp is fine, but the manual says nothing about it.

Hey,

I think it means that it sees your drive, each bios is a little different.

The important thing is that you boot your computer...if the card is removed from the motherboard, are you able to boot normally?

yup. everything works perfectly now, when i remove the card. i am reading my motherboard manual, and it says that i must "disable the usb 2.0 controler(VT6202) through the bios setup before using the PCI1 port.

i am going to try to set it up using a different port and see what happens...

ok, i did it! problem is solved. one problem.... i do not have anything with an rca plug to hear anything! i think thats funny... i will get some adapters tomorrow. i can see the levels on cubase working and everytihng. it was kind of an adventure but its all done.... for now.

...."i wood jes like ta give shouts ta all my peeps frum da illmuzik cru who hooked a brutha up wit da info, fo all dey patience in helpin me out, naw mean? ya'll iz fam ta me, if ya eva in cowtown usa, holla atcha boi......."

yeah, but i couldnt figure out how to do it. soi switched ports, and then it stalled and froze because the driver isnt signed for xp, and i had to reboot once again. it looks like its working, can se the keys move and the sound level rise, so once i get the adapters tonight i will see how well i set it up.

haha... lol.... sorry had to get a lil theological there.....

Nice work boyz. Ive had endless trouble like this throughout the years. glad the Illmuzik folks came thru.

Truth: ive got the same card in my computer. any questions bout it just holla. and oh yah, make sure its in the closest slot to the CPU, and all other pci devices on the other side. it reads them in that direction. youll want your sound card to have priority. also heres a exelent link to help you configure your PC. ask if you need help with any of it your not sure of.

Hey,

If you disabled tho USB 2 controller before installing the card, are you able to use the USB ports on the motherboard anymore?

The work was all Truth's...he did all the sweating, the crying, the yelling, the hurting, the posting, the READING OF THE MANUAL, the troubleshooting, and the fixing. We just sat here and pretended to know what we were talking about...:D

Good job Truth!

the thing was i still didnt disable the usb! i just left the pci1 slot empty and installed it into the second slot.

i wouldnt have posted had my system not shut down completely! the manual was useless until it turned back on. i dont know how or why it did that..... the posting was a precaution to reference while i was working things out, so i had some kind of suggestions if i couldnt figure it out.

Just a note too:
Some software/prgms just arent digitally signed with xp..this doesnt specifically mean that they will not work with xp though. Plus, you have tha option of right clicking on tha prgm that say isnt working with windows xp(if thats tha case) and you can check what other operating systems that tha software really should running on, and xp just switches it for that specific prgm when operated.
