ALSO MiGHT DEPEND ON THE PROGRAM YOU USE.
iN FL STUDiO YOU GONNA HAVE TO SWiTCH OUT OF ASiO AND THEN TURN THE BUFFER DOWN BUT iF YOU HAVE A LOT OF SOUNDS LOADED THAT MIGHT BE A PROBLEM.
TRY TO RECORD iT THE BEST THAT YOU CAN AND THEN GO BACK iNTO THE PiANO ROLL AND ADJUST iT MANUALLY.
THiS USUALY WORKS BEST iF YOURE DOiNG DRUMS OR SiMPLE BASSLiNES BUT COMPLiCATED PATTERNS AND NOTES iNBETWEEN THE LiNES MiGHT REQUiRE MORE ATTENTiON.
DONT KNOW ABOUT ANY OTHER PROGRAMS THOUGH BUT A COMPUTER iS A COMPUTER THERES NOTHiN NEW UNDER THE SUN.

they should have fuckin scientists and researchers working on eradicating latency, i know im just knitpicking, but latency pisses me off, i know u can go back and fix yur shit in the piano roll, but whats the use of puchin shit in if theres a delay

yeah man evry program should have buffer settings .. the lower your setting the lower latency u will have .. anything 128 samples and under is pretty much unnoticeable .. but by lower the latency of your sysytem, u are taxing ur computer cpu .... u have to find a balance .. i keep mine at 128 while recording and if i am mixing sometimes i put it up higher to free up more cpu for other things.. cuz obviously if u are mixing u dont really need the timing to be that accurate but for recording u should def go 128 or under.... pro tools hd even has a hint of latency ... i forgot how much but its not noticeable to the human ear... u need to check ur settings on ur driver, and the program u use and make sure buffer settings are 128 or lower... make sure all ur shit is up to date ... keyboard lag should not be a problem on any halfway decent pc/mac... the place where latency comes into play and why most big studios run pro tools hd is that with native systems when u are looping audio from ur computer to your outboard gear then back into the program it creates latency with most native systems..(except with monster computers like the new mac pros) .. pro tools hd does not so u can inergrate ur software with your outboard compressor, reverbs, eqs, etc... and record 128 channels at once with no latency ... but to answer ur question theres gotta be something ur overlooking wheter its settings on ur driver, ur soundcard, or the program u are recording into...

i aint gettin any latency at all during recording , its jsut when i trigger shit in fl studio wit my midi keyboard i do have the asio option in the audio settings but it sounds faster when i just chose my soundcard, ill try lowering the buffer rate to 128 and see whuts up tho and let u know

ok at 128 samples the audio is not even recognizable when i play it in fl studio, it begins to sound ok at around 3379 samples (76ms). any suggestions?

dude how do u connect your midi device through midi in or usb? it must be suome driver issue cause your buffer and latency time seem THEORETICALY right.

I have one(suggestion)...Learn to play drums and form a band, thats the only way I know to eliminate it...
Seriously tho I get that problem in protools sometimes..It has somthing called low latency monitoring I check that and I dont have much problems after that..
That sounds like a real beeotch, Im gonna keep my eyes on this thread, cuz that can be a problem...

If your soundcard does not have asio drivers you can get the asio overlay
ones at asio4all.com
They work great.
If the latency is too low you may start to hear popping sounds.
If the latency is too high you get that delay.
Just adjust it untill the pops goes away.
That should be the idea setting
