if so who is your favorite squad? i know i been kicking da ball around since i could walk.. i grew up round alot of west indie and african peeps... ive played division 1 in college and semi-pro ball.. prolly coulda played pro in da us.. but to me it was just to much time and effort and it wasn't what i truly wanted to do with my life... my favorite squad has gotta be real madrid... even though its kinda cliche ..... watching them play is poetry in motion... im just curious if there is any other footballers out there and who is your favorite team!

Ahh FOOTBALL, the game of kings, and british war heros. I am quite a big fan i would say, i support the Worlds (ex)greatest club, Nottingham Forest, whom in the 70s/80s won the European cup 2 years in a row, and were robbed of another european truimph, by a bent ref and the other teams Chairmans big fat Ablino cow, leather wallet!!! But love the game, played as a defender, but got banned, (4 reds in a row, couldnt afford the fines), now play 5 a side, and write the leagues match reports, with a dash of poetic liscense(sp?), good game...

GO ON YOU REDS, its not too late for the playoffs yet!!!

Real are sick, I'm also steady playing FIFA2004 on Real and NEC (team from my city ). I enjoy watching nplaying a bit, there's also this thing with the netherlands being famous for there players from the past. I mean, everybody know the big Dutch names ( Gullit, Van basten, Rijkaard, friggin Ruud van nistelrooy, Davids, Seedorf, kluivert, ect ), even in Asia, but Dutch football is majorly disappointing for the last few years, wasted money and all the good players go abroad.

Rafael van der Vaart is someone to watch out for though, kid plays @ Ajax amsterdam and has to much fun in the field.

yeah the mls( the american league) is garbage ... i agree... although i do recall a few years ago when I was at the game when the chicago fire put a stompin on derby who were 6 on the table at that point..lol .... lol ...I fucin hate watching football with American commentators!! Football is growing at a tremendous rate over here in America and our youth national teams are among the best worldwide right now... and lets not forget the US could have been in the finals in WC 2002 (an obvious uncalled handball in the German box!!)

- format - I might be inclined to think Van Nistelrooy is on his way to becoming the greatest ducthman ever, even better than Van Basten.... He's unstoppable!!!! body of a giant... touch of a baby ... he's sick!!! scores at will!!! ... and would agree that players are flocking abroad at too high a rate.. the problem is even much worse in South American countries

vitamin -i hate the necastle kit... they look like referees!!! Shearer is amazing though .. after all these years still crankin em in... England may be doomed with his retirement from the national side

I tend to mistake myself with the same perspective upon soccer in the US. However, I get the feeling that there's loads of people playing it, but it's not a traditional american sport like Football, basketball or baseball. I dont think it getz the same attention/consideration in the us the way we europeans look at soccer. mind you, we don't do much football, baseball or icehockey for that matter. Sure as hell is funny so hear soccerreports on CNN with themoderators mouth struggling over european names. Like Ruud seems hard to pronounce ehehehe, let alone Van Nistelrooy.

holmzini yea tho i agree the mls is garbage i also noticed that the US national team does seem to be getting better and better each tournament ! a few years ago they were just a push over but they are a decent team these dasy think having the WC helped a lot and made the game bigger ! stil its not on the same level as other games with famous names etc ! still can't be long now til it is !

In England, I like Tottenham from my years in London...back when Gazza and Gary Lineker still played there.
Other teams I like are AC Milan and Barcalona (the last mentioned is doing crap though).
Soccer is the biggest game in the world, when will the US learn? ;)

^^^ hehe i got that on tape

cope - I feel you on barca's poor peformances... with players like saviola and kluivert(although sometimes he ould miss the ground with a rock) how could you lose?

I feel what all u guys are saying...even though soccer is growing in the Us it has nowhere near the impact on the lifestyle of thepeople than in other countries.... in europe, south america, it is a way of life...while in the us it is hobby mostly reserved for kids who could not make the American style football team(LOL) .. but much of the problem lies in bad coaching.... growing up I knew more about the game then most of the coaches I played for. We need more quality coaches, especially at the youth level....

im suprised at all the responses ...Lets keep this thread goin!!

I bet you are the most local man u fan there is...US could dominate, but the coaching is cr@p, i swear US coaches have o idea, otherwise, they would rule at everything...the point is the only sport America is good at, is Athletics. America also seem to be the only country in the world, that host and holds A World series for each of its sports, but then "forgets" to invite any other nation...This is where america is lacking, it has to be the biggest and the best or they arent interested. They realise they cant compete, in football, with small nations like senegal, so they dont bother... WHilst im going on, what is American Football about, its just Rugby with pads on, and hockey, why play it on ice, so you dont not enjoy, the gift of friction. And standing still (a true art form, a portrayed by your most famous import, David "im gay" Blaine. But sport is something the american will never excel in worldwide, because they cant be normal, they have to play different, BETTER games....if they are so good, why doesnt anyone else play them...? and if they do it is only at olympic level. Arent the Olympics, bollox as well, UNPAID, upaid my arse, they earn more in one run, than i do in one year. Amateur, if that is amateur, then i fucking scared of how good proffesional must be....anyway that is my rant....safe

well american football - although incomparable to the beatiful game... is quite the sport... its not rugby in pads..ive played rugby and ive played American footbal..and they are two diffrent things entirely.... it is hard to put into words .. even though in rugby you have no pads..i felt much safer on the rugby pitch than on the football field.. rubgy has more honor and sportmnship than football. If a person has a chance to tackle you like a professional or paralyze you ... he will most likely tackle you like a man.. in American footbal.... u might never walk again

i agree with you that america is just a nation of athletes.. as opposed to true sporstman... i mean growing up training for futbol I remeber doing more running and push ups than i do actual ttraining with the ball in a game setting. I would train myself after training because the stff we did was not enough. America cares only about how big or fast their athletes are .....

hockey is not a true american sport - canadians and eastern europeans are better for the most part... the US can compete, but a bit of luck is involved with most of their victories

haze i appreciate your comments dawg!! itt make s for ineteresting thought and conversation!!
