I've had my 9100 notebook for about a month now and when I tried to turn it on yesterday it wouldn't work. I tried to reset the system, but nothing helped. I spent 1.5 hours with tech support (who had me take the whole computer apart, literally). It turns out that my motherboard went bad! And now I have to wait for them to pick my shit up! Anyways I'm just wondering if anyone else has something to say about DELL. I wonder if it's the new Prescott processor because that shit runs HOT!!!

Dude you got a Dell?!?!?

Dell's are very solid, but yeah some might come off the assembly line with a few glitches. Don't sweat it though, I'm sure they'll give you a solid one next time. From my experience, their tech support is pretty good. Except for 1 time when I got some Asian woman who had such a heavy accent I could barely understand her! :(

Yeah I dont use one for music but at work we swear by them.. I think there probably the best machines that you can but pre-built off the shelf.

Alright, thanks for the reassurance. I guess shit does happen. I've always heard good things about Dell. I'll just patiently wait for them to replace the motherboard. I mean don't get me wrong, the notebook is FAST and I didn't have any other problems.

THey are fine for office use, however compaq is regarded as more dependable. AS for multi media, if you're going prebuilt go toshiba.

My sister has a toshiba and that thing is definitely solid. I think my dell is faster though in multimedia applications, although she does keeps Gigs of MP3s on her harddrive (about 30). I'm still waiting for mine to be repaired, I can't make my music without it. :-(

"Okay, wot wrong wit you raptop?"

Shit, that had me laughing out loud by myself. My company works with another company where there's a couple of koreans and I never understand more than 50% of the english they speak, so that kind of reminded me of that..."Tank yo for yo 'elp".

To speak on the subject, I second that some companies swear by them. Our company has approx. 400 Dell's and perhaps 50 IBM's...

Do Not Buy A Dell!!!

DO NOT BUY A DELL!!! I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY A DELL!!! I just got my computer back from the repair facility and these bitches jacked me!!! I bought a 3.2 Ghz processor and they replaced it with a 2.8Ghz! I bought 512MB of RAM and they gave me 256MB back! I have been on the phone for 1.5 hours now and they will only have me send it back for another fucking week!!!!!! They will not do anything to compensate me. IF YOU'RE SMART YOU WILL NOT BUY A DELL!!! DO NOT BUY A DELL!!!

update- I spoke with a manager and they agreed to send me a new comp. Now at least I won't have an expensive "refurbished" one.
