many moons ago, naw JK yeah with my 2000, its a scsi device, you seen or used one you basically seen and used them all though for real....know what termination and id's are you should be good, you can find these at some dusty old 2nd hand computer stores too....

Wurd..I have no idea what termination and id's are....and i thought i was pretty computer literate...I'm hype on it though..... i mean I already installed a card reader on my XL,but having a hard drive and a cd rom fascinate me ... with 9 gigs I can save alotta samples know what i mean..............

I transfer files from my MPC to my PC so I don't think I'd have any use for that. But that's a pretty good concept for older machines. 9 gigs for $140? That's costing too much for 9 gigs. I got a 250 gig for less than $200 bucks.

I know I used this piece of software called the mpc editor it allows me edit in Soundforge or any other editor and then create my programs with pad assignment and effect settings on my my pc when i had my 3000, It could also write 2000, 2000xl & 3000 native format (snd etc) that way I just pre made my floppies....I had and external zip for the 2000 though...and only used that program for the 3000 because something happened to my scsi bus on that thing....

editors over the scsi to an mpc dont do that well in my book, just the basic HD-to-RAM sample xfers.

I have a CDRom and a 2 GB hard drive from him. I've had them for three years with my mpc and no problems. I use them mainly to back up sequences and songs, a a few programs.

I think that the price is kinda steep for what it is. I would look around first at some old computer shops or markets to see if you can find it cheaper. You could even put together the same setup by yourself with a larger hard drive for alot cheaper. It's old technology and should be pretty cheap if you look around. I used to have my MPC2000XL hooked up to my computer via a scsi card and it worked fine. Then I had to change my studio around and my MPC was no longer close to my computer; so I hooked up a 1GB JAZ drive to it and never looked back. I've got about 20 JAZ discs so in actuality I have a 20GB hard drive for my MPC, all for about 40 bucks. I even bought one to put in my computer and it makes transfering files from computer to MPC even easier.

A secondhand Adaptec 2940UWII and some dockable scsi bays, shits peanuts these days. Try looking for servers, like old 133mHz they're fully scsi'd most of the time.

exactly, I know there are compaq 133 servers with onboard scsi and a 2940UWII, 4 x a 2Gb dockable drive. They should come cheap but I dont know model n shit.
