Any & All Tips For Editing Vocals & Recording?

Alright so basically I want my vocals to cut through, not get too watered down by effects. What would be the go-to effects besides noise reduction and reverb for everyone here? If theres any long posts on the mixing/mastering subject I'd appreciate any points in those directions.

I wouldn't worry too much about effects on vocals, like the other guys said. But if you were to use noise reduction, instead try a low pass filter to cut out below roughly 80hz on a male vocal, to get rid of any unwanted noise.

I double the vocals, and pan them equally to the opposite directions. (One right and one left) This initially makes it louder than you want, just fix that with mixing. But it allows you to put effects on both. This makes it easier for me to get the desired sound and prominence in the vocals I'm looking for. I've even done this with guitar/piano solos.
