Another Question for a Reason Head!?

Im new to Reason so bear with me (coming from the MPC 2kxl)

Ok, so I got this track this is straight baning, the sample is chopped up in Dr. Rex and I got it flipped nicely. Anyways, Ive got three notes recorded in the sequencer (from Dr. Rex device) that I want to fade the velocity on, i.e. 127-75-30 (or something similar) so I opened the piano roll and penciled the velocities on the first, second, and third notes respectively. Nothing happens though, no volume changes occur... the sample/slice velocity is still at full even though I changed it in the piano roll.

Let me know if you know whats goin on... I think I got my reason terminology correct too, so bear with me.

mmm, just make sure u lower that velocity LOW enough. like, so low, that the note turns white in the sequencer.

also you can lower the sound level of individual slices by selecting it in the rex device and moving the volume tab down

but that would lower it for every other time that slice is used throughout the song. unless he automates it.

fiddle with the ADSR settings on the Dr....well really just ths DSR....Attack wont help...that should give you the effect you want

Yeh i dont think the velocities have any effect in the Dr Rex.

But there a lots of ways to do the same thing, you'll prolly have to automate the volume

Ok, that sucks you cant do it in the sequencer...

I'm sure you can man. I'm no expert but I think you may need to alter the Velocity knob as that effects how much a change in velocity effects things.

Wings or NNXT will be able to tell you how to do it, they are mad knowedgable in Reason

In the velocity section of Dr Rex (in the lower left next to the mod wheel) you need to tweak the AMP knob. Turn it clockwise if you want lower velocities to give you lower volume. About the 3:00 position should do. Or turn it counterclockwise if you want lower velocities to give you higher volume.

Or you can automate the mixer to fade the track in as A B suggests. Just add a sequencer track and assign it to the mixer and record the volume changes into the mixer track.

Whats up? I used the amp... that works the best for what im trying to do. I was freaking out for a second thinking you couldnt change the velocity in the sequencer, but it works... similiar to the mpc.

Thanks again
