Question:

1. how many of yall would sign to a label, and be happy to be a hidden beat maker for [ie: Timbo and Dre] and if so, when would you tell them you quit and you want your own deal...

2. if they recieved an award, for your beat, would you demand the award, becuz it was your beat...

1. Idealistically no, unless there was something in the contract which said that if a track did well I would get a shot at making something for the label under my own name. However, if someone came round flashing lots of cash, I'd probably punk out and do it.

2. No, I wouldn't, because that would probably be breach of contract. But I would tell EVERYBODY I knew to make sure they knew what was up.

Unless it was Suge Knight, then I would make sure to stay away from high balconies.

1. I wouldn't mind signing to a label to become an uncredited beatmaker or work under a bigger producer and let him be credited for my beats. I'd have access to top of the line equipment, better learning options and woulf of course still be getting a small percentage...as long as I could live of it. Also, I wouldn't mind working out of a B- or C-studio of a bigger studio and paying the studio a large percentage of our sales...to start out with.

2. I would demand my props if some major hits came about from my beats. If I would not receive my props then I'd rent myself into a studio and use my new connections to establish a career.

1. If you get the opportunity to really start your professional career making beats for people like Dre and Timbo, clearly you got the skills to become pretty big in the industry. So, you accept what comes with it and do it to evolve as a producer. Then you can quit when you feel you need to go out on your own, or see if the bigger label is happy to put you on as a fully entitled producer.

2. Obviously this a is a difficult question because if you make a hit, theres not much chance that the bigger producer is likely to agree to announce they didn't produce it. You may have to actually have to go at it by word of mouth to let it be known who the genius really was (eg. Scott Storch - In Da Club). But if you can make big hits, you're proving you're ready to go at it alone and make your name known.

1) hell yeah man, even if just to have some high end equipment, if thats the way i can get my foot in da door imma do it fo sho.

2)not really, if your makin big time hits that get awards, then its time to just say fuck this guy and start your own shit, by t hen im sure that any label would be happy to sign you with a decent package..or just do beats for hire till u drop like the neptunes.

I would be a hidden producer just to get some doe but after a while I would and I'm sure anyone else would want 100% credit for their work not just to have programed or keyboards played by on the album credits...I'd be a ghost producer for a minute to get my family set up and my music going far as more equipment and having more time to make beats and then I would have to branch out
