Yo, I gott a get some ish off my chest. Check it, I'm not directing this post at any member in particular, let's just put that out there first. Thing is, I don't think we realize just how good we have it. This site and community is a treasure trove of knowledge. We have it good. There's no member fees, a Beat Battle every month, and connects with people from all over the world. I first stumbled upon this site a few years back and have learned SO MUCH. And there's not one member that can say that they haven't benefited from this site in any way shape or form. What I'm gettin at is this,,,,,STOP THE BITCH ASS REMARKS AND CHILDREN BEHAVIOR! Whether it's a disagreement about who's the best producer, or what "real" Hip Hop is, or if ya mad salty cause you didn't win a Beat This/Battle That comp. Stop it. Because of the flim flam, and bitch ass members we have, some of the old vets who where here way before any of us bounced. Vets that have a lot more knowledge then some of us/yall think we got. Feel me? This site was a real different place when I found it. We had some good debates that never ended up in internet beef. (Which is as lame as beef goes) We all had problems here at one time or another,,,,I placed 2nd in a beat this comp that I swore I was gonna win. Ash and Clev fuckin went at it for a minute,,,and only 2 months ago we was all breakin bread at a show. This place is valuable and for corny mufuccas to come in here wit they wack attitude and wacker beats makes me angry. I know sometimes shit don't go the way you want it too, but let me share this since most of our members are still mad young,,,THAT'S LIFE,,,DEAL WIT IT.

Oh yeah, some of yall that be PM'n the staff cause you got a beef or somethin we do,,,,here is the general procedure to handle it the right way.

I got owned when I clicked on "CLICK HERE".

I missed all of the last comp and didn't know all that went down. I think it just goes to show how bad everyone wants it.

As annoyed as most of us are regarding the recent behavior of the less fortunate, I would say this is all really just a sign of how important Illmuzik really is. Not that we take it for granted, but that some of us value it so much that we are trying are hardest to get our props and get mad when we don't get it. The balance of extremities. For as happy as the winner is of the comps, you will have someone just as upset. That was OM in this case.

Dude just wants his props because he knows the worth of the opinions of the people in this community. The fact that it is just that... a community. The VIP Exchange alone fukn destroys all other sites. I know OM had some of the best posts and links to other articles. It's too bad he had to wild out like that. You gonna have a few Rasheed Wallaces in the league.

What I was suprised by was Sven's reaction.

Dude gets more than enough props around here. But then he bans himself and brags about moving to the big leagues? I think that was a bigger cry for props than OM's.

Word to that, well said.

I won't go on and on about this because I always end up repeating myself but just to remind everyone: a lot of you don't realize how good you have it. I encourage you to go to sites like undergroundhiphop.com or futureproducers.com and try to get the same community feel that we have here. Not to take anything away from those sites, but still - you can't deny that IllMuzik offers A LOT.

I started this site in 2000. Sometimes I have to step back and remind myself that it adds up to 7 years!!! That's a long time to be running a site, trust me. A lot of community-based sites don't last and that's a fact. What gets me though is that after 7 years of running this site, some people have the nerve to question my authority or motives. Not that I'm looking for sympathy or props, but c'mon now. After 7 years don't you think I know what I'm doing?

And for the moderators here - they've done a hell of a job as well. Usually I handle shit myself because I'm online most of the time but when I'm not they have no problem stepping up and handling shit. Take today for example - when I logged on OpenMind was already banned by Relic and it was a good call, whether people agree or not. The fact is that the entire staff is doing this for fun/enjoyment/cause they have shit else to do while they're at work.

Sure some people might have been robbed out of a win or placing in the Beat This or Battle That comps - but take a look at any competition. Website or live - everyone has their opinion in the crowd but the judges might see it differently. As long as you know your beats are dope that's all that matters, not the opinions of 6 or 7 judges. Don't forget - the quality of beats on here have exceeded tremendously over the past while so if you even just PLACE in the top 5 you should be honored. Plus don't forget that if you don't place it doesn't mean your beat is wack. You might only be 2 or 3 points behind the guy in 3rd place for example. Most of the time the results are only a difference of a few points.

Lastly, take a look around. There's much more than the forums. I know most people just come to the forums but really - look around. What do we have here?
- Community
- Producer Pages
- VIP
- Da Biz
- Countless articles, reviews, interviews
- Lots of technical tips, downloads, resources, etc etc.
- IllMuzik Radio - we have our own fuckin radio shows!!!
- Beat This comp
- Battle That

Plus soon we're going to have:
- Ill Awards 2007
- Battle That 2007
- Ill Compilations Vol. 3
- A few other compilations hopefully by the year's end.
- And the Beat Network - I'm working on it now and members will be able to sell their beats on IllMuzik!

Now how can anyone complain? If you still feel like complaining then you're either missing the point or you're just being plain ignorant.

'Nuff said - move on and let's bring back what's been missing here for a long time - COMMUNITY. Get to know other members here and enjoy yourself and take advantage of everything that Ill has to offer. And I mean everything:
- Upload your beats for the radio show.
- Enter the competitions
- Signup for VIP or Producer Pages and then connect and collaborate with other members in Da Biz section

Who knows - hopefully one day you'll be fortunate enough to meet your fellow Ill-Fam in person!

Peez I'm out. :biggrin2:

if there is a big issues we could Simon cowell his ass. I will break it down as to exactly why the beat is wack. Down to measures, BPM, etc I would do it in a very exact way. Isnt the point to improve? Give me some good solid feedback over winning a comp any day.

shiiiiiit, i didn't even know where to find the comp, just saw the forum for it. my brain was in hibernation.

never quite overstood gettin' vexed about a comp. now losin' one due to the person who put it on, changin' the votin' and then findin' out the $$ prize for placin' 3rd, and not 1st or 2nd, is 2 patty and a coco bread (and not even get that) is cause for some ass whoopin'. but that's in the real world

I too have been guilty of questioning the authoritar of the Fade, during a beat comp.
But it was pointed out that the comp was just for fun, no one wins anything really except some props and confirmation that they made a hot beat, not to forget a little letter under their names on the forum.
Sometimes we take things a little too seriously, thats just human nature tho sometimes, we build ourselves up for the results so much that sometimes its hard to accept what appears to be very wrong. But then like also pointed out, there are many other comps where results just dont seem right, but thats life.
If us producers have one thing its ego's, and when our egos get dented we take it personal, we just have to stop being so big headed about our shit and get back with the community of it, collaborate and share musical ideas and knowledge, that is illmuziks strength.
If you lose a comp it should just inspire you to come back rawer harder better slicker next time.
I pledge I will win a beat this comp one day, thats not me being bigheaded, thats me being determined.
It might not be this year, nor next, but i will win a letter under my name one day then i can die knowing i acheived something, lol

I've yet to enter a Beat This competition because I don't feel I'm at the right level yet to contend. Seeing peoples best efforts tho is inspiring and I think I'll start entering them soon just for the fun of it and opportunity to get more feedback.

On another note Ill Muzik is definitely a good producing community. I came here after being on some other sites that died off. The reason they died is because the mods and creator either got bored with it and stopped making updates or trying to improve it. They weren't strong enough to maintain a good community so people eventually stopped posting and dissapeared. This hasn't happened here and seeing it's been around since 2000 and still has a strong amount of fresh posts I don't see a need to go elsewhere. The people on here also understand that when you take from a community you also have to give something back. I've learned alot from this site and improved because of it so whenever I get some good knowledge to share this will be the first place I would post it.

Peace.

I've only entered two beat this competitions. . . I've been on this site for a while and have only entered two.. I placed in one, and in the other not even close. . . I don't think people should feel envious or get salty. . . Cuz remember the votes are based on the judges - your fellow ill-fam......... with that being said, you know there are no hate votes. Even if two cats don't like each other i've never seen some blatant cheating like that before..

Bottom line - it is what it is and there's usually nothing you can do about it (hey that sounds like that thing... i think its called Life)

but yea, even when i got here i was amazed and still am, but its very easy to pick out the newbie 'trouble makers'. Its one thing to be new to producing, thats perfectly fine.

what is NOT fine however, is being new to the forum, acting as if you are a god. We are all people. . . and should be treated as such, the beats are what gets judged in comps and even then they are treated fairly.

EDIT: I just went thru the Beat This! thread.... and I am disgusted.... :-/
We supposed to be family, not beefin over a tiny image under ur avatar... Sure its a medal of honor of sorts, but the lack of the little "B!" is not the mark of Dishonor.

As for Sven being asked to judge only once. . im not a mod or admin so i'm not behind the seens, but i couldn't help but think about how many active members there are per each competition (not competitors). The judges are probably picked based on participation in the forum, and ability to BE versatile or at least appreciate all types of music. I dont think (well i HOPE) that no final results are biased, if so, definately not to the fact to where it causes someone to lose a place to someone who didnt deserve it (i've never seen that)

.......... with like 20 hot tracks submitted. . . imagine how easy it is not to place. Like fade said the difference between a spot on the top 5, and the lower 15 is uaully a point or two in difference.

ugh.
