wassup fam, im currently in the process of recording for my group 129 official, i make my tracks with combination of reason, cubase SX,cubase vst for os9,bias peak, midi controller, and a shitload of vst sampler, intrimanets ans plugins. I am sick of taking beats to the studio and runnin up tabs on their equipment for recording and such. i need something where i can make a professional recording using my own computer, preferably something that intergrates well with cubase sx. My friends dad built a soundproof studio in his basement so i have a nice silent place i can bring my setrup to but i need to know what tools (mic, preamps etc.) that will optimize my recorcding....i also have a small budget lets say 300 - 600 range..... I dont need super high quailttyjust a quailty recording that will sound good with some eq adjustments......any help would be appreciated....Good looks.

The best thing to do is buy a cheap protools set up like a MBOX on Ebay for $399 .... if you have a MIDI interface then your good .. but if not then you need to buy one ( $40-$400). after that you can track up each individual sound for your beat and also track vocals. Once your done editing all the songs and arranging them save it as a protools session on a CD then bring that Data CD to he studio to get Mixed professionally ....then you will have a real good sonic sound for your project. It won't sound like 2" reels or protools HD but you will have a very clean sounding CD. It will be up to par.

Cubase SX lets you record audio. Why would you not use that?

Perhaps I don't properly understand your question???

If you say you use Cubase SX for MIDI, why wouldn't you record audio into Cubase SX as well (if you own it)? It doesn't make sense.

The MBOX is hyped far too much.
