akai mpd16 question

Alright i just bought an AKAI MPD16, i just ran into some money and got one. I setup everything, installed all the drivers and have it working good in FL6. But the question i have is, is there anyway you can assign the 16 pads to what note you would want to play in the piano roll? It seems like it just assigns itself to certain notes in the piano roll. For example is there a way i can assign lets say C3 on a keyboard to the top left pad and have it go down or up from there on the keyboard. I hope this made sense, any help would be apprechiated! Dawg Ive been wondering the same thing for months.. I havent had any luck... I have just been using Kontakt and dragging the sounds to the certain notes

Check the back of the MPD. It should tell you how to assign the pads to a certain note on the piano roll. But you should of go the Trigger Finger instead. The pads on the MPD, IMO, suck man.

hold down active until it flashes, then use the [full level] and [16 level] buttons to scroll through the Midi Notes

also there's a software for it that allows you to configure everything from the computer. Its on Akai's website as a download, and it should have been on the software CD that came with it.
