Now more than once here and other spots I have bitched about the fact that my machine gets quirky when it comes to the whole 16 levels thing, additionally it HATES pad 13 and blames 14-16 on it lots of times by making all just repeat whatever would be on 13..
How many times have I bitched abiout this??
when it brain farts I can literally just hold down the repeat button and it will just repeat whatever is on pad 13 ( I dont put anything there EVER as a result).
BUT when it gets in that mode frequently it will just not allow me to enter or get out of 16 level mode . Do you KNOW how maddening this is?
SO what do I do tonight(because its been a crappy day)? I go to the website...

Completely unhelpful, THEN I look for a number, LOLOLOLOLOL, what was I thinking ?
That would require operators that have actual knowledge of the product available during the day.... WOW too much to ask for when you make crap you know is going to break.
THEN I find a number they want you to leave an email of the problem and they will get back to you in 5-7 DAYS?????????
I think the groove I was in is gonna be a little gone by then YA THINK???

I bought this bitch back in 05-06 and I have LOVED it when it works, but this crap is hell.
They want you to literally buy parts and do it yourself I inagine, or pay some ass that is gonna take a month to do something that could take 5 minutes I am sure.

Hell even Logic which will make you pay prolly up to 3 grand to fix a fuckin problem has cats sitting around to help.
btw fuck mpc forums I have more than once posted this problem and searched for an answer over there and it aint happening....

I have no idea if this is an OS prob fixed by buying the completely not official and prob much more complicated JJ OS or just a fuckin sensor prob...

PS yes I have tried loading the (updated to the one before the last) OS multiple times and it doesnt help.

I think its a faulty pad(sensor), you say pad 13 triggers other pads and when holding note repeat you hear pad 13 once again so i dont think its in the OS. Im not in the US so i have no clue where to go besides the obvious (vstservice). I assume you're out of warranty so vstservice will be your best friend...

The thing is if I leave the ting turned off for a while it goes back to being normal and this is completely random, this problem is like the molestation secret of the mpc family because no one wants to touch it yet everybody knows this prob exsists lol.

imo, mpc's havent been that superb since the 2kxl (yay me) though i ony bought a mpc500 since which i found to be really good (except for the ram holder) when talking parts and quality. The xl's displays are getting the lines though but i operate them blindly lol.

I think 85$ on new pad sensors should fix the issue but it still sucks, 90% chance it will fix the issue but ehm, like said before, if they replace it with yet another brand new faulty pads then akai does really suck. (fix it, sell it, get mpc 3k/60/2kxl or 4k hehe)

^^^ i think we know akai went backwards in the US since Numark took over and beefed with Akaipro in asia. The last good product by akai was the Z-engine, all the new stuff is just based on OS gimmick (added dsp, crappy coding), "must have" features and smaller oem budgets (cheaper parts). Akai went the apple route, for a short time there was akai pro but that turned into a budget oem with the 4k still being the flagship since eh...the s1100? s3200? they wont make products like that ever again.
