Montreal’s Most Talented WANTED! AUDITION ON APRIL 24 & 25
Soul In The City, Montreal Urban Talent Showcase for AJM Records is to be held on Sunday May 23rd, 2004 at the Theatre Nouveau Monde. Our organization offers quality talent showcase events as a crucial platform for aspiring artists to market themselves directly to the industry professionals from across North America.
In addition to AJM Records executives, on hand to view the showcase will be American/Canadian music video director’s fashion magazine publishers, and talent scout event coordinators and promoters. This showcase will give the participants the opportunity that could lead to a record deal; music video appearance and a photo shoot for a major fashion magazine spread.
Showcase Rules
1.Participants must sign a showcase agreement.(Not to be confused with audition agreement.)
2.Soul City organizers reserve the right to refuse any entry at any time.
3.Participants selected and contacted after the audition,must pay the $100.00 entry fee to
perform in the showcase.
4.Deadline for payment of showcase entrance fee is April 31,2004.
5.Entries will not be guaranteed until fees are paid in full.
6.Fees are payable by cash or money order.
7.The $100 entry fee includes:
• Professional photo session ((head shot)with make-up artist,and hair and wardrobe stylist
• Maximum 1 hour consultation with an industry professional in your specialized .eld
• Make--up artist,and hair and wardrobe stylist for showcase
• Gift bag from sponsors
8.Upon receipt of payment,appointments with hair and wardrobe stylists,make-up artists and
other professionals prior to the event,will be scheduled for showcase participants.
9.Participants must be available all day on Saturday,May 1,and Sunday,May 2,2004,for industry
consultations and photography sessions.
10.Attendance of 2 rehearsals prior to the showcase is mandatory.Date and Time to be con .rmed.
Music
I.ALL MUSIC SUBMITTED MUST BE RECEIVED BY MAY 7,2004.
The CD must have the following label information:
• Name of performer
• Phone number
• Song with proper credits
The vision of soul city ’s producers is to ensure that each participant ’s performance is perfected and
surpasses north american entertainment standards.We have united a team of professionals includ-
ing a hair and wardrobe stylist,a make-up artist,and most importantly one on one consultation
with an industry professional in your .eld.Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors we are able
to provide these services to you for a nominal fee.

Particpants Guidelines
Dancers
• Participants can audition as a solo performer or as a group..
• Maximum of 10 people per group..
• Limited to a 3--4 minutes routine.
• Music can be R&&B,Hip-Hop or Reggae.
• Pre--recorded material must be on CD format only.
Singers
• Participants can be a solo performer or group performance ((max.of 5).
• Songs can be original material or popular cover songs..
• Accompaniment music can be live or pre--recorded material on CD format only.
• Music can be R&&B,Hip Hop or Reggae.
• Music selection for showcase must be A MAXIMUM OF 3 1//2 minutes total length.
• All Singers and Rappers must not have any existing contract with a recording company..
Rappers
• Participants can be a solo or group performance ((max.of 5)
• Song material permitted for entry must be original..
• Accompaniment music can be live or pre--recorded material on CD format only.
• Music selection for showcase must be A MAXIMUM OF 3 minutes in total length..
• All Singers and Rappers must not have any existing contract with a recording company..
Urban Models (male and female)
•There is no height requirement for the Models,they must simply represent Montreal ’s
concept of urban style.

1.Auditions will be held from 9 AM to 7 PM on April 24 and 25,2004.Location to be con .rmed;
see website.www.soulcity.ca
2.We welcome all ethnicity and body types who appreciate and support urban music.
3.Opened to Males and Females,16 years and older.A parent or guardian must accompany participants
under 18 years.
4.Photo identi .cation required for proof of age.
5.Please provide photograph with application (only passport or headshot will be accepted).
6.Time permitted for audition is 3 minutes.
7.Each participant must provide
a)Completed Application form (one per group)
b)Read and signed Release form (all members must sign)
c)The $15 non-refundable registration fee (each group member must pay fee per person.i.e.4 group
members pay $15 per person to a total of $60)
8.We will require ONE Contact person per group to function as representative for the group when dealing
with EGO ™ consulting.
9.No profanity is PERMITTED during the performance.Any violation will result in automatic disquali .cation.
Singers
• Singers are required to sing acappella for the audition,,if you have already selected your choice of music
for the showcase,have it ready for the audition – you may be asked to sing your selection..
• Pre--recorded music must be at the standard speed.Please ensure that the CD submitted is of clear quality.
• In the event of an emergency,,it is advisable to have a duplicate CD available.
Dancers and Rappers
•Must come prepared with the cued background music,which they will be performing for showcase if chosen.
• Music must be recorded at a standard speed..Please ensure that the CD submitted is of
clear listening quality.
• In the event of an emergency,,it is advisable to have a duplicate CD available.
Female Models
• Female models must bring their own high heels..
