.... no.. do NOT get both... the point is the Triton Le is a very inferior product. stay away from it. i am dead serious.... you will regret it. go to guitar center and play one- but then play another triton, play the extreme. there is a huge difference. play the fantom and motif. huge difference.

you still havent said if you already run cubase or not.

if yuo want your main sequencer and sound source to be hardware, then go for the mpc- then cop a tr rack, if synths and strings are the main sounds you want. its ok (not bad, but still not all that great) for other acoustic stuff but excels at synth sounds, inlcuding strings.

personally i say if you are copping that emu card, which comes with cubase sl...... i say you go ahead and upgrade, cop the emu emulator to go with it for $200 more... you can get the emu box, cubase, the emulator with all the proteus 2000 patches, and then cop the mo phatt/planet earth/vintage roms for an extra 300....

Sound wise, im just looking for some good strings and maybe some warm synth sounds. if i get that triton, wont i be able to freak the sounds on my computer then transfer them back into the triton? or maybe you got a better suggestion? here's what im coppin' in the next week.

emu audio dock M
Rode NT 1A
Either MPC 1000 / Triton Le
Midi Controller if i went the MPC route.

but from reading all the replies i think im leaning towards the mpc. but maybe something will change my mind...

if you are looking for sounds and a good keyboard I'd go with the Triton like I said in my previous posts.

the MPC is obviously not going to give you any sounds

Hey man, i'm currently using an MPC 1000, an Oxygen 8 midi controller, and Reason, with tons of patches i downloaded. Lemme tell you, the mpcs sequencer is awesome. and the power and flexibility i have with reason is great. Reason has some very superb sounds like class said earlier. I suggest you look into what class suggested. I am speaking from experience and can say, reason and the mpc are a real potent combination. If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up at MrIncredible209 on AIM. or PM me. Take care bro.

^^^^^lol.... well the LE at the VERY least. the Extreme isnt too bad at al, but still lags well behind the motif es and Fantom lines...

Ok wow how did I miss this......I owned the Triton LE around 3years ago.....for exactly 1month......one Saturday I woke up and turned it on and no sound from the audio outs or the headphones...............this is how I got my 1st Motif....I took it back to Mars Music when it was open told them how pissed I was and copped the 1st Classic Motif because at that time they both were being heavily marketed so my budget could only afford the LE so I coughed up the diff and got the Motif........moral......I know about 3 other people that use that board with no problems till this day......I would never buy another myself, even if someone offered to give it to me I would probably pass......get the mpc....no brainer on that decision at least for me......I even had the Triton X....sounds were ok but too tekno centric.........

well be glad that happened.... the le is a hot trash item, though it has some GREAT pads. other then that..... if it cost $600 or so then yeah it wouldnt be a bad choice, but still there are better piece for not much more IMO.

get some nice keys and learn to play, use any platform you're comfortable with. If you have to choose between a good set of keys and a mpc then keep in mind that the mpc option is just a luxury as you dont have a good set of keys, or a synth for that matter.

Personaly, Id go for something which has nice key action, screw the sounds in there unless we're talking VA. Just about anything with midi is good, if you check out something like the Korg Legacy kit on a good audio card and nice keys you can do some proper damage... I dunno for the mpc1k, but anyone going for the mpc by means of needing a sampler is a noob. The sampler itself suck, its the sequencer, not saying its not efficient but it's on a 90's budget sampler which does well for percussion but considering the allround use of a sampler in hiphop you can imagine that there are much more decent samplers out there.

I'd say you dont need either. If you want, go for a midi controller... If you're confortable with cubase, stick with it and try to find hardware that can be used directly with it.

If you're buying either the triton or the mpc, it would be to go the hardware way in my book...

and with the difference (a midi controller is less expensive than a MPC or Triton) you'll be able to buy some nice sounds for Cubase.

Some racks have VERY good sounds, but again, to me, that's the hardware way... you'd have to record those sounds in your computer, making loops and samples that you'd be putting in Cubase...

having the notes and being able to make changments on the notes (without having to use a editor or having to redo the sample) is preferable, dont you think?
