advice on mpc

can sum point out to me the differences between like the mpc200xl, 3000, 4000 etc im looking to buy one as my first piece of kit for my studio to start making beats on im gonna be making mostly hip hop with sum r'n'b stuff ! just wondered if anyone could advise me on what to go for !?

im a current owner of all three of these pieces....

and ima say the 2000xl is the best

jus way smooth.. fast for sequencing... slicing...

it does errythand the 3000 does... and more the only thing is the delay effex offered.

the 4000 is a beuty... alot of great features.. but alot of stupid ones...

2000xl and 3000 user i feel wouldt be disapointed.... cuz of something theres used are no longer offered..

4 instance the mixer changes the volume for the whole program no longer a sound on the pad...

no volume level in the sample page...
16 levels is only velocity...
the keygroup aint all that... mach 5 destroy it
note repeat... no longer diguise if you hit the note off beat by a mili sec...
so its sound weird cuz you hear one note off beat and the they start 2 go on beat..

i can on about the little things that piss me off about it,,,

but ima jus say 3000 has a nice drums sound 2 it and more midi outputs........ but thats it... i can eq that on my 2gxl 2 make it jus as nice

and since ima use now my midi i/o 2 connect all my racks and keyboards...
and the master is pro tools.... jus use the akai now 4 arrange my sequence nad drum patterns... and cut my sample and play out on the pads...
but now i only use one midi out 4 my xv5050.. and the rest i use thru pt...

but if you have only one keyboard.... or you can invest in a midi time piece...
ima recommend the 2000xl...

So if you use pro tools, do you have the mpc2kxl in midi though setup or does it run outside the pc midi chain ? I have only have the analogue gear (virus, atc, drumstation, anything midi i want to automate) with midi out back to logic and everything also goes through the 880patcher. Between logic and gear I could chain the mpc or 2. I resolves the pain of secure automation with the mpc only. Well, at least on the 2kxl. 4kxl wouldn't add anything I'd like but probably has better automation editing.
