Fruity Slicer has a beat analyzer i believe, that can just about give you an accurate tempo for the beat you wanna put under the voice. just open FL Slicer the load your sample and in the the right hand corner of the plugin window it should show you your BPM and beat total beat count. maybe that'll help you, im not completely sure though

What I do is, i go and drag the acapella into Acid Pro then right click go to properties, then you'll see a "beat calculator" im not @ my studio so i can't be exact, but then you click start. it'll configure the down beat on the acapella or sample, then you click next, then listen to tha acapella and adjust it if you need to, then hit next again. and bingo you'll have the exact tempo. then you gointo FL and adjust the tempo for your beat.

Hope this helps, sorry if it dosn't.

it dosn't give you the EXACT tempo, it gives you a around-about tempo basically it guesses and tells you to pick one. lol, and why would you use the slicer for an acapella? lol.. anywho, jus look above @ my reply and if you have any questions PM me and i'll do it for ya, or help ya out.

noone was downplaying anything there buckwheat, i was simply saying it dosnt give you an EXACT match it roughly-guesses. and as i said above I WOULD DO IT FOR HIM OR YOU if needed, so dont get all chested-up. I was just pointing out a fact.

iN FRUiTYLOOPS i WOULD LOAD THE BEAT AND THEN DRAG THE ACAPELLA WAV. iNTO THE PLAYLiST AND USE YOUR EAR. iTS COOL TO MATCH TEMPOS BUT iTS EASiER TO MATCH FLOWS AND CADENCES (iF i SPELLED iT RiGHT) YOU GOTTA MATCH THE MC TO YOUR TRACK iNSTEAD OF TRYiN TO MATCH THE SONG.HOPE THAT HELPS.

Most of the accapellas I use come off 12 inch singles from my collection. So I play the original version of the vocal I am using alongside the instrumental track I am creating and synchronise them together, much as a DJ would when doing a beat mix.

This usually works but I have had occassions when the accapella seemed to be pitched differently to the other versions.

Out of curoisity, how effective is FL at detecting the tempo of an acapella? As that approach sounds a lot simpler.

It's okay. Depending on the wav file itself, it's pretty much hit or miss. I've found that it can detect the right tempo 25 - 30 % of the time. I usually just stretch or condense the wav file in the playlist and do it by ear.
