This argument is crazy. What does it matter who one person or the other thinks is the greatest hip hop producer of all time? Everyone has someone that they look up to in the business. I mean, you may try to be the most original; but you were influenced by someone. Whether it be Dre,Blaze,RZA,Premo or whoever; we all have our heroes. It's all a matter of opinion, taste and style. I myself like the styles of many producers; even alot of folks that are in these forums. Dick riding? That's out of the question. Props? Yeah to anybody that has made it in this game; because it's a rough business. So yeah, I have to give Dre his props cause he's been on top of his game since The World Class Wreckin' Crew. But to say that he is the greatest Hip Hop producer ever?.......Define Hip Hop.

no doubt Dre gets props man. Without a doubt. But, I'm just tired of kids who call themselves producers and then try to get to osund like Dre. Ya know, they buy the Dr Dre Sound Kits and all..lol. Opinions are like assholes,,,everybody has one, and they all stink! j/k

Of course, everyone's gonna have different opinons...so there can never be any one undisputed great of hip hop, in the same way their can be no single greatest song [although some might argue differently on the albums tip..]

Anyway, no-one mentioned Shadow? [!!!]LOL, The guy is a genious, in my opinion I wouldn't question him being the so-called 'saviour of hiphop'. [Although I'm sure other would be quick to disagree :)]

And there was very little mention of the produders that laid down the foundation of production today - the stuff in the eighties and nineties...by Prince Paul, Q-tip and The Ummah [for all the Tribe stuff..] and even Rick Rubin.

EDIT - Anyway, back to the point, everyone has different opinons and will appreciate different artists or styles, and thats that.

Pete Rock would bitch slap Dre since he likes trannies. Then he's kick the shit out Prince Paul for teaming up with Dan the Automator and posing in mags with a thick mustache, fucking dick. Pete Rock is gully yall!!!!

i really dont know how people can argue if Dre is the best ever or not. its just not debateable.

im sorry, im not usually like this, but no one can touch his spot at the top to be 100% honest - as far as making beats and the whole artists development thing.

Dre makes hardcore street tracks but then again so does Preemo, Pete Rock etc.. But you dont see Preemo and Pete Rock's joints blazin in the top 5 internationally.

and i doubt Preemo could develop an artsist to a mulit-platinum superstar off one joint (i.e 50 cent)

Theres a difference between jockin someones style tho and bitin someones style. The 2 are not as synonomous as people are makin it out to be. And people will have there own opinions and look up to there own favorite rapper or producer as mentors, but that dont give u a green light to start bitin! - Why dont u learn from that artist instead and take something from that and apply it to yerself instead of crowning some dude king and givin him a fuckin label cuz he rocked so and so units or has gone platinum....Cummon, that shits rediculous!

in my opinion, that comes 2nd in the best produced albums to me. its like dre - 2001 gets 10 rating, and BP1 gets 9.99999. i love both but its the cleanliness and crispness and technical aspect of 2001 that gets it for me.

Rhythmical The difference between Dre- Pete Rock & Premo 2 things.......

Deathrow Records and NWA

these are two things that gave dre Millions to work with and stay in the game as long as he has they fueled him financially enough to grow his production and concepts and market them effectively......he did prove he is not just producer but saavy enuff to run a successful label which really in a business sense is very difficult to run things like that and be good.....then Aftermath.....Dre to me is the MOST SUCCESSFUL Hip Hop producer.....but as far as making the best records or being the best producer of all time its hard to not put his overall production up against......Premo, RZA and Pete and long list of other true to the art Hip Hop Producers.....these guys after all were more successful on the underground than Dre will ever be, they didn't have the overall financial success of Dre and his record labels to really push their music the way Dr. Dre has.....so if you minimize all of them to just their skills and overall hip hop credible music, take away all of the media hype and videos.....(which is a huge part of the Dre Image) you can't say he was the Greatest Producer and yes it is highly debatable.....You gotta have some real criteria and Sales are more attritable to marketing and hype....so just because someone doesn't sell as many records doesn't translate into their music wasn't as good so you gotta find some better criteria......But with that said I still won't take anything away from Dre. He is a Legend.

seeman, there's the difference,,,,,Premo and Pete Rock don't make music just to be on charts dog,,,they makin music to be makin music,,,feel me. Artist development is not a producers job, thats for the record labelk to take care of. We atlkin producers and music, not labels and sales.
