ok after I find the sample I want off the vinyl record how do I get it from the turntable to my computer or is that even possible?

You need a mixer that has a phono preamp, or just a standalone phono preramp. Then you hook the main outs of your mixer or preamp to the line input of your computer.

Search around for a mixer if thats what you want. If your just usin it for your turntable though, i wouldnt spend more then $50, unless your gonna be real serious about this.

You don't need a mixer. All you need, I think, is a Y cable; where the two plug part goes to your turntable and audio plug to your line out. You can record right into Soundforge or whatever you use. That is how I have mine setup. Go to Guitar Center, they should be able to help you out.
