Its very true, my biggest leaps of ability have come from working with others. Thats when you go the extra mile, and realise that you can.
Its good to get out of your comfort zone, you learn more that you can bring back and apply to your own music or techniques.

There is nothing new under the sun, we simply take that which inspires us and reshape it into something fresh, not necessarily new.
Hip hops entire existence comes from taking something old and making it fresh for today. Be it beat juggling or sampling classics and turning it into something for the street of today.
