4 piece drum mics?

can any one point me in the right direction for drum mics.. im looking to record some live drums and my mixer only has 4 stereo channels. is there a decent 4 piece drum mic kit i could purchase?

You can always try just doing a good placement of some stereo overheads. That usually gives u a more oldschool sound but can sound decent in a good room with a good kit.

These are the fuckin shit for overheads, pretty pricey tho - but there matched and well worth it. (Ive used them at the university studio before and they seemed the most accurate in representing the kit and the room.)

If your boys interface allows fantom for only 2 inputs what i would do is use those inputs for overheads with something like the 184s and then see how that sounds.

If you end up wanting more defined kick and snare, try adding a kick mic and snare mic.
The shure beta52a is ok, and so is the Sennheiser MD-421 on the kick. You typically want a high SPL dynamic mic for the kick. Ive heard of people using EV-RE20s on the kick before too.

Then for the snare this is no brainer: just pop a Shure sm57 on that puppy.
