I'am trying to download a 2.5.1Operating system for the Trtion, I got the link to download it , Then it said I had to "unzip it" I did that to a Temporary Internet File. Now how do I get that to a floppy so I can load it on the Triton. When I try to copy it from the file is say the file is to large for the disk. Its a empty floppy so how do I get around this.

A floppy can only handle 1,44 MB...are you sure the file isn't too big?

Hey,

1. Save the zip file to your hard drive.
2. Close Explorer.
3. Unzip the file to another folder on your desktop.
4. Look in this folder, there should be three folders named Disk1, Disk2 and Disk3, plus to PDF files.
5. Copy the contents of Disk1 to an MS-DOS floppy, Disk2 to another floppy, Disk3 to another floppy.
6. Read the instructions in one of the PDF files to load the OS into your Triton.

Advice: BACK UP YOUR TRITON before upgrading the OS. You may lose everything when the new OS gets installed, this is what I do every time I opgrade the OS' of all my machines.

Take care,

Nick

When you say unzip it to another folder how do I tell the computer to do that. When I pull up the unzip box, it has my network name / temporary internt file, its preset.

Also when you say lose everything, you mean the programs and combination that I have created, but I wont have a problem pulling up files from my hard drive will I ?

Hey,

"I have a problem pulling up the file from my hardrive for the trition after I change to the 2.5.1"

Sorry?

1. What file?
2. You've already loaded the 2.5.1 OS?

Did you read the instructions on the PDF? The ones I read walked you through the process step by step...

After you've unzipped the three folders, you have to each folder onto a floppy disk, then load each disk one after the other into the Triton by physically removing it from your computer and putting it into the floppy drive of the Triton. You then have to hit a few buttons on the Triton to tell it to load the OS from the floppy disks.

"you mean the programs and combination that I have created, but I wont have a problem pulling up files from my hard drive"

1. Yes, you may lose all the programs and combis that you made when you update. It is possible that you won't, it should say in the instrustions on the PDF.
2. Pulling up what files from the hard drive? The hard drive on your computer or on the Triton?

Take care,

Nick

I got the download part done, its on three disk, My question was , once I install the new 2.5.1 is there a chance that I will have a problem loading file/songs/programs from my hardrive that I use to store my Triton stuff since all that stuff was saved when the board was using 2.1.
I use a harddrive for the Triton to save.

Hey,

Hmmmm....I don't know. Again, you'll have to look on the PDF file. Whenever I update anything on my synths, it usually says to back everything up onto a computer first. In my case it's pretty simple because I'm only dealing with patches and programs, it's just sysex data bulk dumped into a sequencer. In your case, you have sequences and sample data as well...

Is your Triton hard drive partitioned so that the OS is on one partition and your files on another? If that's the case, you should be alright when updating because it should only effect the files on the partition where the OS resides, your data files should be left alone.

I've never played with a Triton seriously, so I'm advising you with the understanding that it behaves like a computer...please consult your documentation or even shoot Korg an email before proceeding if you're not certain, I'd hate to see you take my word as gold if I were wrong...

Take care,

Nick

Hey,

Let us know how it works out for you and post the instructions here, there are a few people who have the Triton and could benefit from your experience.

Take care,
