It doesn't get any "wilder than this": Although I am too old for such irresponsible behavior!

Quincy Jones also knew how to write music by hand inside and out. Likely a music genius. I don't compare from that perspective. I am good with ideas and creativity but lack in execution. Can always keep working on it though and get those reps in.

Exactly my point is, Quincy Jones was 49 when he produced Thriller and then we know he had a hand in many other productions after that. I am not 49 yet. Maybe you aren't either?

We need a "Quincy Jones of the rap industry" to help turn things around. And you are right, rather than complaining, it really is us who can make the difference.

If CDs, Vinyl, and bell bottoms can make a comeback, why not good hip hop?

This reminds me of the meme in the thread about the producer trying to make the perfect beat:

Illmuzik should create a label called "Illstalgic Records" and try to bring back the glory days, lol...would there be a market for it though?

I think its more the fault of record execs and A&Rs searching for the same ole...Whoever makes the final decision on what they are gonna push. Creators are really just acting upon where the demand is.

Well, I had friends in my neighborhood while growing up who listened to it so that is how I got turned onto heavy metal back then and then more recently (several years back) thrash metal. I had a co-worker who played in a band and we went to see her play drums and there were all these thrash...

Well, the industry is copycat. Everyone wants to be the next thing like that of the past. They might think that copying is the fastest way to success. I mean literally, there is no such thing as a new idea, but I get the point. It is better to be unique through variations rather than a carbon...

In one of the other threads, @Fade, that group Griselda is a brainchild of Eminen I think (or at least he has a hand in it). I know they have a distribution deal if nothing else. On the other topic, especially now that BeatID and ContentID are out there, it is way too easy to get flagged for...

It's definitely an artform. There are "finger painting" and "water color" styles then there are more sophisticated oil-based or masterpieces as some call them. The crazy thing is you never know how it's gonna be percieved until you put it out there which makes it exciting every time.
