Chopping on the mpc 1000
you got to slide the jog wheel and "extract" instead of "discard" that way your original sample will stay intact. When you extract, the MPC asks if you would like to assign your new sample to a pad, and allows you to choose which pad you want your new extracted sample to go to. -

In the Trim mode, you can extract certain "chops" to make new samples, thats how i split up my samples. -
need help with setup to record vocals
what i did was i copped a headphone rackmount, and I have the computers outs go into the headphone rack, then out of the rack to my amp, which goes to my monitors. that way you can turn off your speakers and monitor both the MC and the beat.. you should be able to get a small headphone amp...
