If what you mean by scale back the notes is just making the duration of the note shorter - then yeah, thats very easy. You need to open your hyper editor and then find your midi notes in there, after u find the notes, simply click on the note u want to scale back and drag in the desired... -

With sidechaining...
Naw u beat me to it...I dont use it very often either....I use it as a last resort to make my kick and snare cut through usually and thats about it. I didnt mean nothin by the info i dropped tho in regards to his prod skills...I was just tryin to be as concise as possible so he gets how it works. -

I mean, thats just one example man, you can literally use that effect on anything just be sparingly and choose the right tracks...Some people even sidechain different tracks to their vocals similar to the kick example so that their vox stand out more.... Just make sure u dont let your track... -

A common example of sidechaining is when u want your kick to cut through your mix more prominently... You can apply this effect to any track in your session but it can get a little overkill so you should use it sparingly. Say your Kick is on Track 1, and your Bass is on Track 2 or something... -

Real cool chord choices and nice progression.... I liked how u did the melody in a higher register and the did the same thing but moved it down an octave, that was a simple but really nice touch.... Drums were hittin proper too man. Skills all around homie! nice beat! STEEZ -

The glass trackpad sounds dope, i bet that shit is gonna look clean. If it still has the same dexterity but with added features like on the macbookair except its a glass surface thats even better becuase over the years the trackpad plastic always begins to degrade. Easier to keep clean too...
