CD burning problem...... wont read my wave files...

Hey, Truth, when you get a drive, it always comes with an OEM version of a burner, usually by Nero or Roxio, which should work with the drive. When you bought his machine it should have come with a burner preinstalled on your machine. Sony and HP used to bundle their own proprietary...

Tell Me - Is Sonar capable of competing with ProTools?

Hey, Again, thanks for the reply. I misunderstood the term 'convertor': I used this to mean the actual component, but according to some of the sites it refers to the entire box (blinking lights and all :D) which connects to the computer through another device, like an ADAT card. I suppose...

Does anybody use the E-MU MP-7????

Hey, I haven't sat down and played with either to give detailed info on it, but some general differences: 1. MP7 cannot sample, but it has a ton of sounds already in it and you can buy expansion ROMs to give you more sounds. 2. The MPC can sample. I do have an expanded Proteus 2000...

Can someone tell me what sample loop means

Hey, You can, provided that your sampler allows you to. I believe that Kontakt (a software sampler) allows you to set different loop points on a sample and you do different things to trigger them off. I also believe that you can change the loop in and out points in real-time while playing...

How many of yall make tracks for a hobby or the doe or the fame

I heard one of my records (techno) played out in a club a few years ago, and the rush I got when girls went nuts on the dance floor during the buildup is the kind of thing that I do music for...it was awesome being surrounded by people moved by a track I did, and they didn't even know that I was...

    when does sampling = stealing?

Hey, At the school where I work, they play out music between classes across the PA system to an audience of 2800 students...when I questioned them about it, their reply was "we can do it because we're using less than 30 seconds of each song". Now, I know that the school isn't making any...

Tell Me - Is Sonar capable of competing with ProTools?

God, Thanks for the reply! 1. That was a summary of what you and mucka had said about cards, maybe I should have written: "mucka feels that Digidesign hardware interfaces better than a lot of third-party cards; God feels that convertors are a critical element of a recording system which...

Tell Me - Is Sonar capable of competing with ProTools?

Architect, Thanks for the great post, having well written information like this is very useful to people trying to make a decision. I've read through your post very carefully, a few things mill over when you get a chance: Here's something I don't understand. A few people who (I assume)...

Tell Me - Is Sonar capable of competing with ProTools?

Hey, Now we're getting some real answers! According to God and mucka, a fully decked out PT rig is better than a computer running Sonar for the following reasons: 1. PT has farm cards, which for those of you who don't know, are cards which have fancy DSP chips on them dedicated to...

    video production

Hey, It has to do with a lot of things: 1. They record with high definition video cameras with really nice lenses. You can read about the new HD cameras that are being used to shoot Star Wars III here: http://www.starwars.com/episode-iii/bts/production/f20030516/index.html 2. They...

Tell Me - Is Sonar capable of competing with ProTools?

Hey, My guess would be that maybe the buffers in your soundcard are too low and the card is not capable of keeping up with all the information being passed to it at that speed. You could try increasing the buffer size...the disadvantage of this is that latency will increase. Take care, Nick

Tell Me - Is Sonar capable of competing with ProTools?

Deuce, You don't need PT to do any of that stuff, you can group tracks and use Waves plugins in any software, including Sonar. You shouldn't have to export wav files from Reason with either PT or Sonar, both of the current versions support Rewire, which allows you run Reason as a plugin...
