If you think Eminem is the GOAT MC....

Thanks I really appreciate that, I was a Gab fan for years so I jumped at the chance to work with him. Obviously we weren't friends or anything and probably talked on the phone a total of 2-3 hours and that's it, but from what I could tell he was just a talented, humble dude that took his craft...

If you think Eminem is the GOAT MC....

I don't know that I necessarily disagree with that. It goes back to how we are defining GOAT in the first place. Since you and I are defining it differently than we are coming to different conclusions and that's just fine. My larger point is just to throw out a blanket statement and say he is a...

If you think Eminem is the GOAT MC....

That's reasonable, if you just don't like his voice that's subjective and a matter of taste. But I don't think you can objectively say he is a bad producer. @Tarboosh Record Im pretty hard to offend so all good man! I would say that of course Em is a pop artist, doesn't mean he isn't hip hop...

    Drum machines like the Volca

Indeed, as you know im a big fan of an all in the box workflow. The differences between analog and modeled analog are pretty minimal. The ONLY reason I have a bunch of hardware is just to get away from a computer once in and while and have a different workflow, but from a purely sonic...

    Drum machines like the Volca

I have an Elektron RYTM and a Roland TR8s for analog drums. but those are pricy. What’s your budget and what do you like and the volca specifically?

If you think Eminem is the GOAT MC....

#1 JUST ONE?? That's tough, i'm a fan of everything from old school like Whodini and Pete Rock, Krs One to more modern stuff like Run the Jewels. I have very eclectic tastes. The album "To Pimp a Butterfly" is one of the two records that got me through my divorce. (the other was "Remain in...

If you think Eminem is the GOAT MC....

I actually do think Em is probably the greatest emcee of all time. And come on Fade lots of rappers double vocals. There are a lot of great rappers we can talk about but Em is just so consistently great. I think you can make a pretty compelling case for him being the GOAT.

I just got something in the studio I have wanted for 15 years. I’m blown away by it. Check it out.

Thanks! We have YEARS of work ahead, but it’s coming together nicely and I haven’t done a whole record as a live band in years. All real instruments, real amps, no soft synths, no sampling etc. The front man/guitar player also insists on doing his parts correctly in one pass or we delete it do...

@Fade check this out if you are bored, my friend wrote it and it has me cracking up. https://www.davenportbrothersmusic.com/about also weirdly enough The Davenport Brothers already have had two different labels reach out to us, so somehow people are hearing about us even though we are brand...

I use a Rhodes sound pretty often for various Drunk Pedestrian songs so absolutely. I’m playing in a new original band called “The Davenport Brothers” that I’m super pumped about http://davenportbrothersmusic.com/ we are working on our first record now. So the Rhodes is getting a lot of use now.

It really became clear when you got an amp on it, then it was night and day to the software versions.

Ok I was able to finally spend some time recording this with a great player in the studio yesterday and holy shit it sounds amazing. Sorry but it blows software emulations away completely. Wow.

Mixing and all that in the MPC

In your original I can literally hear the mp3 algorithm degrading the sound quality. Listen to that high hat that comes it, you can hear how grainy it is especially in the high end on your mix. The second mix is another world better. This is a great discussion with examples!

Mixing and all that in the MPC

"headphones but then all changes once converted to mp3" Ok first off you should NEVER mix in headphones. They are simply not accurate enough to do a proper mix on. and mp3 is actually a terrible format. The ONLY benefit mp3 files have are file size. They are a format that LOSES audio quality...
