Pre-Built Mastering Patches
XT's right. Reason's sound engine does have a reduction in gain at the master buss of about 3-5 dB.... So what I would suggest is make your mix sound good without clipping in the red while leaving your master fader at unity (0)...and then once your happy with it, you can raise the entire mix... -

my controller is mad slow.
What are the specs on your mac? You shouldn't be experiencing any kinda of midi controller latency if you have a fairly new mac. Also, make sure that your interface's drivers are up to date as well. -

This is a simple preference fix. I dont understand whats restricting about iTunes tho? It does everything its supposed to and is really easy to use. And as far as "drag and drop" you can do that in iTunes onto your iPod as well. Thats the only way i dump songs onto my iPod these days. You...- Shonsteez

I really like my iPod a lot more then the other alternative brands I bought in the past. Before my ipod I owned a Creative Zen, a Sony, and a Panasonic was my very first MP3 player....Eventually I finally gave in and now I cant live without my iPod. Well said Slik. Its def 10x easier for the average joe to get up after the advent of the big technology boost. Theres also a massive increase of shit being injected into the game for the same reason however. -

Pre-Built Mastering Patches
Just make sure to leave the Mastering Suite bypassed during mixing until the very end once your done. Otherwise its very easy not to know your clipping at the master buss the whole time. -

Reasons mastering suite is useful if your just trying to make your tracks louder for the net once converted to mp3 for something like myspace but I would leave that stuff set to bypass for a real track you plan to have pressed and mastered by a professional. -

Is it ever ok to just loop a sample?
Personally, i fucking love loops....Some of my favorite joints are straight loops upon loops.....Some people are hellbent on chopping the sample to utmost smallest pieces so they can say they made something new from it, i could honestly give a fuck tho. I just want heads to knod.
