couldnt agree more with you smivel. But in my case, and a lot of others cases, that multi-million dollar budget isnt quite happenin with the artists we encounter lol. I would love to hear one of my beats mixed by a mixing engineer and then mastered by professionals though. Damn i think i'd cry

    Recommend me a Compressor.

i agree with ash. vocal technique is a huge part of it. if you still wanted to go with processing while recording, i'd get a dedicated hardware compressor to do the job. Just make sure you dont over compress the vocals on the way cuz its all permanent. It'd be better to compress it twice...

you would have some horrific latency issues. i could be wrong as well though... maybe if you had a really good DAW setup??

yeah exactly, most emcees dont care to or even know of, or HOW to mix something down even if i tracked it out to them. But for my own sake of making something sound as good as it can ( I dont wanna be associated with something that sounds shitty), i'll request the acapella and mix it out...

the official Illmuzik "Sending Beats To Artists" thread

if they bought it or you are plain giving it to them to work on, send them the mp3 to record to. Then have them send back the acapella and you can track out your beat and mix it down with the acapella so it sits and sounds right altogether.

Alright this is seriously getting outta hand

i wasnt tryna argue either elem, i was just pointin out that the public doesnt get to hear what else is out there most of the time cuz they get flooded with the same "success formula" over an over ya know?. It's kinda like a monopoly in a way. As far as dancehall, i dont care for it or...

Alright this is seriously getting outta hand

It's not about being narrow minded. You act like we dont see the otherside of the issue. Its definitely obvious they do what they do and follow the trends to make a living. It's when you cant be successfull UNLESS you follow these trends that it gets messed up. And its not that everyone...

Destruc... I tried listenin for the offbeat or lagged drums but couldnt come up with it. It may drag a bit, but as long as it doesnt detract from the audio or rhythem anything goes and there are no rules!! As far as arrangement goes, I personally think it works well once you compose...

Alright this is seriously getting outta hand

lol i know right? I talk to people all of the time that ask me what i do.. i tell them i produce or make beats or whatever.. an then they share what tracks they currently like. And they really actually like some of these songs that I really feel are completely rediculous. One of my...

drmyndbender This was cool. Intro was long, but it was need to really catch and acknowledge the groove of the samples. The drums are phat and dope!! glad to hear thick ass drums like this, it really defined the beat better than any other drums would have. Like you said, would be nice with a...

    Mixtapes

if they are getting exclusive vocals or parts from movies, i dont see it being reasonable to press wax just for that. It's hella expensive to press something like that just for a vocal or just for a movie quote. I'd bet it's done digitally.

    Recommend me a Compressor.

what do you mean his voice changes? Just the volume? Is it because he's swaying back and forth or really gettin into it? What mic are you using? Preamp? The quality of the mic and preamp if you have one will get you a clearer quality and will just make it easier for the compressor to work...
