    36 Mafia wins an OSCAR!!

Correction....only 38.8 million viewers. A billion?! you're crazy lol But it was a big night for hip hop regardless... Eminem started it 2 years ago when he won the Oscar for 8 mile. But he didn't even show up to the awards show because he didn't think he had a chance to win. Luckily...

Hooking Up mpc 1000 and a keybhoard to reason

What is the purpoe of connecting the mpc?? Strictly as controller pads? You won't be able to get any of the sounds from the mpc into reason. Gotta use pro tools or another audio editing program for that.

Is this a good compressor? (free)

Analog circuitry, and tubes, and all that other hardware shit....for software, the Waves plugins get the job done...Unless you want the warmth of a tube compressor, just about all the software/plugin compressors will do the same thing

Ok, this is HUGE for hip hop. Now, I know Eminem won the Oscar a few years ago, with Loose Yourself. A well deserved win as well. That song was a classic and was prefect for the movie. BUT, Eminem was sort of the a different situation. He was mainstream, and sort of connected hip hop with...

    Selling Beats 2 Artists/Companies, Etc & Sampling

If you have a label that wants your music, you can make an attempt at writing that into the contract. Hopefully they won't have too big of an issue. Honestly, it may really depend on who the writers of the song are. If you're a small time producer but the songwriter is someone major, they're...

    Selling Beats 2 Artists/Companies, Etc & Sampling

Well of course, there are managers and all that, but those numbers are all situation dependant, but the whole producer/writer splits is generally ALWAYS the same 50/50 split.

Let me break it down for you all.... As far as publishing on a song, there is a split between the producer, and writer Song=100% Producer=50% Writer=50% Generally, when labels go to clear the samples, they will take whatever percentage the publishing company wants out of the producers half...

    To all ya'll non-hardware users!

I'm not talking about point and clicking. Those producers need to step their game up or get out. BUT, the general classification between software and hardware in the beat making world is where the sounds come from. Someone using a software to get their sounds, can still trigger those sounds...

    Copywriting Sampled beats

everything you sample needs to be mentioned in the copyright PA form. There is a section, I believe its 6a, where you are supposed to write down any material derived from etc. That goes for ALL drums, melodies, vocals etc. Anything that wasn't yours needs to be mentioned. And you shouldnt...

I'm glad someone posted this. this album is great, from top to bottom. He's not the best singer in the world, but he can hold his own, and his songwriting is phenominal. I LOVE this record. Dude shipped 900,000 pre-release. That's huge! I hope he sells 4 or 5. R&B is BACK! Hip Hop is...
