Dilla delay on the snare for producers

100% Correct. I tried it in a House beat and you can't really hear it when it's in a higher BPM so yes, House music i would keep quantized. I personally do everything by mouse in Fruity. I just place the Hi-Hats in between the Beats 1/3 step to the right. and also the Kick right before the Snare...

    NEW - Maschine + standalone

Exactly, i actually went from the MV-8800 to FL Studio because it can do WAY more. The hardware looks attractive though but i don't find them as useful as a DAW and mainly cause FL has a click & play Piano Roll. And the MV-8800 could only use 1 FX at a time...

    NEW - Maschine + standalone

It's not for me. I rather work with a mouse in a piano roll.

The best monitor for the buck?

I heard JBL 308P MKII are the best in it's price range. Some say even better than the Yamaha HS8.

Studio Headphones (what kind do you have?)

Beyerdynamic DT-880 Pro Worked with the 990 for 10 years straight but the 880 has the midrange that the 990 misses. But the 990 is really good as well and cheaper.

    How many tracks?

Exactly, but you do need to EQ all your tracks really well. A lot of low-cutting especially. And panning things to the left gives a little more space for something else on the right. Like said, something might sound cool on its own but it must work along the groove.

    How many tracks?

I'm def a maximalist and need at least 3 to 5 days to finish a track.

    How many tracks?

Well, what i mean with 12 instruments max is something like. First i make a good chord progession with a piano for the whole track. than add a Bassline Than add an acoustic guitar panned like 50% to the left or right. than add maybe a vibraphone than a String starts playing from bar 5 till 8...

    How many tracks?

I always start with 7 melodies and keep adding things. I alway make beats with 12 melodies max. But when included layering synths it can be around 20 tracks.

Who do YOU think are the best Hip Hop producers of all-time?

I keep saying. Apollo Brown is the best Hip-Hop producer from the last 10 years. I knew him from his Skilled Trade beattape like in 2008/2009 and like 3 years later he just blew up and worked with the biggest names.

Who do YOU think are the best Hip Hop producers of all-time?

I don't really have one but i think if you look at somebody's entire body of work it has to be DJ Premier. By far. But just as a beatmaker i would say Dilla. Or even Pete Rock before that. I'm talking about just instrumental. And Dre off course.

yo... what kinda music are we making here?

I still call them beats or tracks. Although House artists call them beats to. (Or tracks) But i understand it like thinking 'it has a beat but it's more than just a beat, like it has a sample, bass, synths, strings etc) It's kinda weird.

I would follow a Sound-Design course if you can get it. It helped me A LOT. I understand sound or music better now.
